If he is just starting to try seafood you should start with some plain shrimp with pasta & sauce that way it’s delicate. Deep fried seafood is very modified with additives. Good luck on finding your new tasters!

Travis you are right if it had a strong smell it probably was cooked in old oil. I eat all kinds of seafood but if the oil is not fresh and the batter is too thick. It is like eating thick batter in old oil. The best way start with seafood is cook to broil, baked or lightly dusted and seared at home.
