I was going to say "this sure seems more like prog" even though there is a slight dusty desert crunch to some components. But I caught more hints of Yes and Tool than anything else... maybe a tiny bit of Talking Heads but I'm not sure why. This was also my first listen, I enjoyed it!
I assume everyone heard this the same way as I did. Back when TH-cam recommendations were good, this song just hung out there, patiently waiting for me to listen. It’s like 14 minutes, regular me can’t take that much time to listen to a song. But high me, that guy has all the time in the world. I saw this had like 10 million views but I never heard of the song or band. Good ole high me though. He gave the song a chance. And I’m glad he did. This song fucking rocks.
Jesus (Stoned.) Never even thought that someone else has heard this song. It is a beast. Knock down a couple of beers, slap on those headphones and let the song take you to where you want to be but can never stay. Thanks to SJ for making this kickass tune and a huge thanks to Geebz for not falling to clickhunting (reacting to popular music) and keeping it real. ALO-MF'N-HA!
YES! Thank you! I think I requested this many months ago but Im guessing some other people did too. Thanks to everyone else for requesting this one too.
Man this band is very underrated. Nobody knows about this band and its a shame because this album is a masterpiece but also the other albums are very good as well.
Bro!! YES!! I love this song my personal favorite from Stoned Jesus, it hits so hard in a car with a killer system. This is for me a definite cruise jam.
This is a journey of a song, with lyrics that have helped get me through some rough times. Thank you Stoned Jesus and thank you Geebz for reacting to this!
you remind me of my private instructor in university. I studied music composition, one lesson he asked me to bring recordings of my favorite band. He wanted to know what i was into besides classical. I was really really into Dream Theater at the time and let him listen to about three or four tracks. He kind of just nodded and was like, yeah this is pretty good. he was one of the most accomplished music faculty there where I studied. idk why i felt the need to tell that story, love stoned jesus btw and indeed your perspective and analysis helps me to refine and become more nuanced in my own compositions, been following you for a while now. thanks!
Now with this and The Sword we have finally gotten into the stoner metal. Every album of theirs is different but this is surely the best album of theirs. You gotta react to Truckfighters - Desert Cruiser. Its one of the songs that put most people of the last several years into stoner metal.
Love Truckfighters. I'd also love to see a dive into some of the more psychedelic acts like Monkey3, Yuri Gagarin, EARLY Monster Magnet, etc. The Stoner field is wide and varied. From Doomy to Trippy af.
Since you are getting into stoner rock and metal I would like to recommend you to listen to Uncle acid and the deadbeats - Deaths door you will fall head on into the genre :D
Stoner week has been AWESOME. Not sure you plan to have another one and what has already been suggested, so I'm just gonna leave this list here: - CORROSION OF CONFORMITY - Monster Magnet - Clutch (you've done 1 but we need more) - Down - Masters of Reality - Priestess - Witchcraft - High on Fire - Truckfighters - Orange Goblin - 1000mods - Karma to Burn - Colour Haze

I was so excited to see you reacting to Stoned Jesus. This band is a wonderful rabbit hole to dive into. There is a live version of this song and it sounds even more amazing. They play it differently live than on the album. They said that the way they play it live is how they really wanted the song to be played.
I love this song so much. I've been learning to play it over the last few weeks and having a blast. The main riff is a lot easier and groovier to play than it sounds at first. I always thought the rhythm and lead were on separate guitars until I started playing it myself.
Oh yeah Geebz you did the right one...It's my 4th time revisiting this vid..I'm a huge SJ fan and I'm surprised they don't have a lot of other reactors doing thier stuff..THE best (non) Stoner Rock band...Right Igor lol...✌️🤘
Hey Geebz I'm just revisiting this vid...I caught it when it dropped but I'm a huge S.J. fan and I play this song and others from them..Thx for putting this forward for pll to groove on.. Peace from the Northeast...
This song is a masterpiece and Stoned Jesus deserve to be known! Saw them live in Paris, can't wait for them to come back hopefully with their next album! Thanks for the reaction.
I love the channel. Watching someone discover music and enjoy it for the first time takes me back to middle school, where my friends and I used to play new (to us) songs/bands for each other. We were always finding new music. It gives me the same feeling. That said, maybe try some industrial? I know you did The Hand That Feeds - NIN, but from a production standpoint, there's a LOT of other really good stuff out there, and it ranges from metal to synth pop. KMFDM - WWIII, Ministry - Animosity, Angelspit - Vena Cava, MDFMK - Rabble Rouser, Fear Factory - Shock would all be really cool to hear a breakdown on.
Yoo thanks for the stoner week , i listened to a lot of stoner rock/metal up until recently and really enjoy the trip so far , i would suggest 2 bands from Greece , 1000mods-Road to Burn , and Planet Of Zeus-Leftovers, keep bringing them Geebz
Great reaction. Love your videos. If you are going to do more stoner reactions, please dont forget Electric Wizard - Funerapolis and Monolord - Rust or Empress Rising. Those Bands are pretty heavy.
Good morning from New England..This is my 8th time watching this vid...I'm a HUGE Stoned Jesus fan and I just can't get enough..And Geebz if you happen to see this comment SJ has a few new songs out and I think you'd be into a song named PORCELAIN.. Its an 8 minute prog trip and it's on my SJ playlist... Peace 🤘✌️
Thank you for your great and fun review! I have seen Stoned Jesus live twice and would always go again. This genre and all the connected genres in general - almost every band - nicest audience with great appreciation for the art of music. I have never felt more at home than in the stoner/psychedelic/space/acid-rock/doom/metal community
I just found your channel a few days ago and you have become one of my favourite youtube channels of all time. I love how you are willing to listen to so much and have covered some actual properly good more underground Metal which I would have never expected (I am into many many genres and am mostly a jazz fan but this is just something very interesting to me as most people are very closed minded when it comes to serious metal music). I love your breakdowns and how well you get everything musically and how well you explain everything. You have a new fan in me.
Super-great song and great band as well but, man, imo you gotta save some time for a Colour Haze reaction on your next stoner rock marathon . Songs such as "Aquamaria" , "Love" or "Tempel" from their mid-2000's period are absolute bangers of trippy, above the average-crafted & psychedelic stoner-rock. These three German dudes really were something else at that time. (And, yeah, I'm part of the quiet ones so I mostly do not react in the comments but I must admit I might not have missed a single video since the beginning of your journey so thanks for all the fun and good times)
Don't think I've ever clicked so fast on a video of yours. Never thought I'd see anyone react to this one. Love this song so much! Love to hear you react to YOB - Adrift in the Ocean. Starts moving into doom metal. 😊
Yes to this recommendation. I’ve never heard a drum kit sound so like a wave. How about some great pop music from the antipodes - SJD southern lights or from a to b or not to b …. High order genius
I NEVER CLICKED ON A VID SO FAST IN MY LIFE....THX SO MUCH FOR DOING STONED JESUS.THEY ARE SUCH AN UNDERRATED BAND AND SHOULD BE WAY MORE POPULAR THAN THEY ARE...AGAIN THX SO MUCH IT MADE MY DAY!! PEACE..
The way this song is structured feels like an actual mountain of 3 different songs that build from the starting point to the summit and then take you back down on the other side of an amazing journey. Love that I had the chance to catch them live couple years ago. It was even better to hear them in person and for the vocal to entertain us with some stand up comedy improv while the drummer was fixing his drum set that he absolutely destroyed :D
Aloha from Seattle! Great stoner rock classic! I am the MOUNTAAAAAAAAIIIIIIN! I've really enjoyed taking this journey with you, as I'm a big stoner rock/doom/sludge fan. If you're loving this journey, I have to highly suggest ELEPHANT TREE - ECHOES. You will looooooove it. It's stoner rock meets post metal meets psychedelic prog. Brilliant stuff.
Speaking as a mountain, I can say most sincerely that it was a distinct pleasure to see and feel your reactions throughout listening to this monumental track. We salute you sir!!! 🤠🙏👁️💜
Yesssss, Somali Yacht Club - Loom. Speaking of Loom - Another great Song is "Loom" by Les Lekin. Austrian Psychedelic rock / doom band - pretty dark and heavy stuff. Have seen them live once- Great musicianship and super humble :)
Your faces are priceless when you listen to music and your face says so much at all the surprise chordal changes and rhythmic motifs! Thank You ☺️ you’re hilarious and so brilliant! What about “The Silver Apples” for stoner musica??!?!?!!! I would love to hear your thoughts on that band and the all classic self titled album “Silver Apples.” 🥰
Hey, I want to thank you for these videos. Your content and choice in tunes are seriously awesome, but more importantly you're helping us (me, at least) learn HOW to listen to music. I haven't had this much fun thinking about music in a long time. Kia Kaha Arohanui - Love from New Zealand
woooow! now we are getting into good stuff!! Stoned Jesus is amazing. thank you for the video!! I'd love to see more Post Rock like this in the channel. There was this amazing band who used to be opener for Tool concerts called "Isis" in the early 2000s. I think they stopped early after, after the terrorist group took the name. "Isis - So did we" is some of the most amazing songs ever, from their album Panopticon also Samsara Blues Experiment - Center of the sun!!! or any of their work, really
Late to the journey this week but definitely check out OM- Sinai and Pilgrimage (are two of my favs)…either on your own or for the channel! Thanks for the awesome musical selection. Peace, Chris
SLEEP! DO SLEEP! They're easily the GOAT Stoner Rock group, a source of inspiration and influence for almost every band to follow. Check out Dragonaut or Holy Mountain, from "Sleeps Holy Mountain". The album has absolutely atrocious mixing (yes in a very bad way) but is still fantastic nevertheless. You could also do a Dopesmoker reaction... a single 1 hour song that comprises the album. Great fun :D
Oh this is gonna be killer...I'm pretty sure I suggested this on a past video, like a LONG time ago, no clue if my comment was the one that spurred this, but I'm stupid excited regardless!
I'm not sure why, but I'd love to watch your reaction to an old gem. IDK, some old Queen recording, a Creedence, something like that. I guess it won't be the same as reacting to "unlistened" songs, but maybe if you try to meditate and create a mindset where you could "imagine" how it'd be to listen it for the first time... You know, being a musician myself, I guess it'd be like when you hit Bohemian Rhapsody with a friend after a couple drinks, and you find yourself listening and hyper-analyzing the song as if it was a new release. I'd really love to watch that kind of video. Aloha!
This is an awesome song that reminds me of a toxic person, who introduced me to this. So I want to get rid of this memory and just enjoy this master piece.
Another great reaction to good music! I would love to see a reaction to my favorite guitar player alive, Christian Muenzner. I think you'd greatly appreciate his neoclassical song writing and his unmatched technique. He's the past and now current soloist for Obscura, and his band Eternitys End shows his Power Metal writing chops. If there were a person who would appreciate him, it could only be you!
I'm a huge fan of stoner/desert rock band Bort who have released 3 albums but I just found out they literally make no money and no one outside their hometown in Canada knows them? It's a shame because they are very good! There's a lot of good bands in this genre that are essentially "pub" bands because it's a small genre with no mainstream appeal?
That was awesome! I saw Stoned Jesus live a couple of years ago in Linz (Austria). It was one of these concerts where I just close my eyes and get all kinds of caleidoscope visions and stuff, without gummi bears ;) Stoner week was absolutely awesome! If stoner metal and prog metal had a child, it would probably be post metal, so maybe you'll want to have a look there next? I'd suggest Russian Circles - Harper Lewis.
I dunno if you're still doing 'Stoner Week', but a personal favourite from Kyuss is 'Gloria Lewis'. No need for a reaction as it's not particularly complicated, but check it out. Groovy On another note, I'd like to hear your opinion on the Melvins. They're a big influence to stoner bands, sludge bands, and also Mastodon who you've done a couple of vids on. Kurt Cobain was a (pretty useless) roadie for them for a little time and helped them get signed to Sub Pop. I'd suggest 'Hag Me' as I think it's peak Melvins... They have a huuuuge catalogue and their absolute best stuff can be a little hard to find. But it's worth it. The drumming is AMAZING
Thank you, big man, for your review . Even those mention of Ukrainian band are have weight now, in this situation in our country. Sorry for bad English language
Thanks for this.... I've heard a lot of new music this week... Stoned Jesus is one of them... The guitar sounds exactly like a ol 90,s band called day of the new. Maybe same artist. I don't know what happened to them... I think they went to a band called tantric and after that I have no idea... Anybody else know if it's the same artist???
Oh hey, thanks for your reaction, man! And for all the nice stuff you and many people in the comments said, truly uplifting in these weird times
Looking forward to it!
I was going to say "this sure seems more like prog" even though there is a slight dusty desert crunch to some components. But I caught more hints of Yes and Tool than anything else... maybe a tiny bit of Talking Heads but I'm not sure why. This was also my first listen, I enjoyed it!
You guys absolutely rock! I'm stoked for the new album!
The prog part is blatantly obvious :D
Yay for the new album!
Calls themselves Stoned Jesus and aren't Stoner fans... Does not compute! :P
band from my country. saw them alive on bandershtad metal fest in my city. greetings from ukraine!
What I love about this song (and genre) is that they just have time. No rush. Let the music flow naturally.

3 piece band, man are they fucking good. This song popped up because of all the prog rock i've been binging lately, glad I gave it a listen.
Man this band is very underrated. Nobody knows about this band and its a shame because this album is a masterpiece but also the other albums are very good as well.

Stormy Monday is another great song from this album, and I'll be having a listen to it immediately after this 😤
Yob - Adrift in the Ocean live at pickathon 2019!

Stoned Geebus :D
Mad respect for this upload. A masterpiece of a song.
This album, what a journey! ❤
"Electric mistress" would be a great choice to show you how catchy their riffs can be!
agreed, he needs to do electric mistress
Nice! Glad to see you reacting to this.
A great representation of Ukraine’s growing alternative music scene 🇺🇦

Oh this is gonna be killer...I'm pretty sure I suggested this on a past video, like a LONG time ago, no clue if my comment was the one that spurred this, but I'm stupid excited regardless!
The best statement that defines Stoner Rock as a genre is that it's music not made for people in a hurry
Aloha!
THIS IS THE ONE !
This is an awesome song that reminds me of a toxic person, who introduced me to this. So I want to get rid of this memory and just enjoy this master piece.
some fun stuff...I've never heard it...love the rawness...feels like there weren't too many overdubs to kill the vibe...
Great finish to an awesome week. There hasn't been a song I didn't love.
I’d like to see you go through this process with some unsigned local bands from around the country all levels of talent
I would suggest The Myrrors -burning circles in the sky.
Or Amenra . That's more post metal TBH
Nice, one of my fav bands. I'd recommend Dozer - Big Sky Theory for stoner rock week.
I dunno if you're still doing 'Stoner Week', but a personal favourite from Kyuss is 'Gloria Lewis'. No need for a reaction as it's not particularly complicated, but check it out. Groovy
On another note, I'd like to hear your opinion on the Melvins.
You really need to try Mustasch! "It's never too late" is one of my favourite.
Thank you, big man, for your review . Even those mention of Ukrainian band are have weight now, in this situation in our country. Sorry for bad English language
You did do the best version lol... the edited one is without the opening and ending sequences you heard here
Thanks for this....
