In the summer of 1963 I worked at a camp on Catalina Island where Keith was a junior counselor. Never would’ve guessed in a million years that this shy, quiet, gangly kid would go on to enjoy the remarkably successful career he did. Well, he had great genes, that’s for sure!
A well deserved surprise! Surprisingly it was the sole song nominee from the film when there are several that were just as deserving. Yes everyone believed the Ross song would get it, even after all the brouhaha (I believe it was because the song had been written a few years before and/or not for the film). Having Diana appear 'live' from Amsterdam in the middle of the night to sing it was supposed to be the clincher. Instead it proved the be the sinker! And the great John Carradine? Class Act!
At the times music branch rules restricted only one song per film could be nominated. This rule was changed at the end of the 1970’s - Fame became the first film to have two songs nominated.
Angie and Burt are stunning ! What a pith they split up although they had one daughter together which was great....Angie appeared again at the Oscars in 1981 when she presented Best Original Song with Luciano Pavarotti for FAME
“It’s not my way to love you just ‘cause no one’s lookin’……..”. The song “I’m Easy” rings in my ears from time to time. Great singing by Keith. Wondering where he’s now. 🎵🎶
Just watched a video from 1 year ago in a channel called Homes 4 Families. Keith was singing a song called "Jetplane," accompanied by his brother Robert. Both playing their Mossman guitars. They looked fine, and he sounded great.
There is no video of Keith Carradine performing I'm easy at the Oscars that night? I've been looking for that. I have a recollection of Bernadette Peters doing some big production number, and of Keith Carradine coming out and being alone on the stage and singing his song with the guitar. Would love to see it again.
WOW! ....Pow, puhPowPOW! Id honestly forgotten what an absolute knock-out she was....with Burt by her side. Good Lord, what a sexy couple! ...announcing an as equally sexy song
Angie eventually divorced Burt because he was serially unfaithful on her. Looking at this gorgeous woman, I have a burning question for Burt . . . were you out of your fucking MIND?!
“Dues,” from the same movie is a much better song. Bacharach having to announce this is like Einstein having to give the science award to the guy who invented the hula hoop.
I think it is a damn good song, although I agree the right song won - especially when you see it in the context of the movie. Both Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin were very fine songwriters in their own right. Masser was discovered by Mercer, who was his mentor.
Mahogany never had a chance! The Academy never did cared for the song......it had been written years before (a cover song) and not for a movie ..... the dislike of Ross from the final voters as it was in 1982 with "Endless Love" both lost.
Great choice but c'mon what about Marvin Hamlisch???? His three wins in one night!! From Cher mangling Marvin's name to the maestro himself saying "I feel we should be on a first name basis." How about it??
He really should have thanked Robert Altman. It's a mediocre song lent enormous power by the context in which it is place in the film, "Nashville". That's what the Academy was rewarding, not the notes.
I agree. This song won (and rightly so) because it was perfect in the movie and it is an award for a song in the context of a movie. In many ways, particularly with its multiple irony, it was probably the best example of the use of a song in a movie ever. If it was just about notes and lyrics I do not think it would have won.
You have to see how this song was used in the movie to understand why it won. It was probably the best use of a song in a movie ever. Layers of irony in it - he was singing to an audience in the film, but the film's audience knew what he was really saying. If it was just about notes/lyrics alone, probably, yes, Mahogony would have won.
not impressed with his version, though, for some reason, I liked the remake(but don't remember the artist, ARGHH). but a great great song, one of my favorites, at least my bf's anyway...
This song still sounds good 45 years later ... unlike many Academy best song wins. It's timeless.
I still swoon when I watch Keith performing IM EASY in the movie, NASHVILLE.💘
OMG, me tooooo! Every woman in that room wants it to be about her. This is still one of my favorite songs EVER!!
Angie is absolutely stunning and that dress looks so great on her! ❤️
Agreed. She seems a little tipsy. Maybe had a pop or two before she got on stage? Great dress. Angie is a A1 hottie. Even at 90.
Yes, gorgeous woman👍
wow. never knew bacharach presented this well deserved award. have loved keith forever. so nice his dad was there to see him get an oscar.
Keith Carradine sang this song beautifully. I know he's not singing here, but I've heard the song many times, and it's bautiful.

You met a President… wow!
They were gorgeous! When stars were stars
Now this is one BEAUTIFUL woman!
Very beautiful song. Loved Nashville, love Altman!
When there was still an organic feel to the Oscars, not like the spectacle it is now.
That was probably the best Oscar dress ever.
puts Jlo to shame
I think you are right.
Um, shyeah!!
What a sweetheart! 🥰 great song & sung so well!
Keith Carradine is so adorable, and this song is a masterpiece.
Beautiful Angie Dickinson 💖

What a touching acceptance speech.
Best scene of Nashville is Keith singing this song
Angie looks soooooo good.
My favorite song!
Angie and Burt are stunning ! What a pith they split up although they had one daughter together which was great....Angie appeared again at the Oscars in 1981 when she presented Best Original Song with Luciano Pavarotti for FAME
Sadly the daughter had some serious problems that ultimately Bacharach just couldn’t take. Angie was and is a class act
*What a pity
He made it look easy

Love Angie Dickinson!
Well-deserved Oscar! Very few Oscar-winning songs hold up over time but " I'm Easy " is a rare bird.
This man seems very nice.. beautiful song as well.
Bless you Bob Altman....
Well deserved win. I absolutely love this song
Great song!
Loved I,'m Easy. Timeless. After 45 yesrs!
What a beautiful woman
So handsome

Amazing!
Hermosisima canción, y Angie Dickinson que figura tenía! Preciosa
how beautiful you are Angie
Oh, my Lord, was Angie gorgeous!
WOW! ....Pow, puhPowPOW! Id honestly forgotten what an absolute knock-out she was....with Burt by her side. Good Lord, what a sexy couple! ...announcing an as equally sexy song
Angie Dickinson,. Hot ..anyway the song is beautiful and Keith carridine sings it with such a amazing voice..
all so GORGEOUS!
I know this song was a hit but how many of the other ones? Incidentally I have this song in my iPod.
I fucking love Nashville! Easily the greatest American movie ever
Angie D. was in her mid 40's when this was taped...wow
Not old
Wow, what a dress!
Un premio muy merecido de por si. La canción es absolutamente bellísima en todo sentido y la letra inspiradora y 100% intimista.👏👏👏👍🙏🇦🇷
Ronee Blakely's song "Idaho Home" (also from 'Nashville') was better than any of the other four nominees and should've also been nominated.
That was easy!
Loved seeing John Carradine
are they the best looking Hollywood couple ever?
Bravo!
A worthy winner
'easy does it' & it did it!
So do I!!!!!
A great acting family like the Fondas the carridines john , keith david robert
What a dish!
Deserved win. Ironically, the only Oscar in the Carradine acting dynasty was not for acting, so far at least.
Is that...Lundy?
*Looks it up*
YEP!
Tutto meritato compresi i presentatori!
He was wonderful as the dad in Andre
Sensacional....
2:26
Angie eventually divorced Burt because he was serially unfaithful on her. Looking at this gorgeous woman, I have a burning question for Burt . . . were you out of your fucking MIND?!
Burt was so cool and "Pepper" aka Angie was hot!
2:29 Peter Sellers ??
I'd put the usual Trinity quote here but it's the Oscar's and we have to be more classy than that.
There’s Burt
❤❤😊
“Dues,” from the same movie is a much better song. Bacharach having to announce this is like Einstein having to give the science award to the guy who invented the hula hoop.
Olha so a Andie Dickinson a eterna police woman
Wow…
It's Frank! Sorry, Criminal Minds reference.
What if The Rocky Horror Picture Show was nominated for an Oscar?
Should have been if just to hear "Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania" one more time.
Debra my hair isn't getting any thicker ...
What's up with Marvin Hamslich clips?
Wild Bill won
Aha, we didn’t know that Foxy Funderburke had a side occupation besides his hobbies in Delano! 😳
Odd youtube recommendation
burt tava meio fominha. Não quis ser cavalheiro e dar a primazia para angie
Never cared for the "Theme from Mahogony" IMO, just a poor imitation of Mancini, Legrand or Mercer... Carradine deserved the win.
I think it is a damn good song, although I agree the right song won - especially when you see it in the context of the movie. Both Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin were very fine songwriters in their own right. Masser was discovered by Mercer, who was his mentor.
Richard's Window was a great song wonderfully sung by Olivia Newton-John.
Reminds me of Mark Hamill. Keith is for the more interesting actor though.
Martha Plimpton's daddy. :DDDD
Mahogany never had a chance! The Academy never did cared for the song......it had been written years before (a cover song) and not for a movie ..... the dislike of Ross from the final voters as it was in 1982 with "Endless Love" both lost.

I wonder if Trinity is a fan of this song....
He really should have thanked Robert Altman. It's a mediocre song lent enormous power by the context in which it is place in the film, "Nashville". That's what the Academy was rewarding, not the notes.
He thanked Mr. Altman at the start of his speech.

"I'm Easy" is not bad. But, theme from 'Mahogany' is much more musical
I really don't get why this song got nominated over Ronee Blakey's songs from the film.
Nicholas Young Because the song of keith Carradine is even better, without detracting from merits to Ronee Blakey who is also a composer (like me).
it was a more universal song than her hillbilly songs
He's got a tapedeck in his tractor and he listens to the local news.
So it's pronounced Bak-a-rack.
Que joven y lindo era Keith Carradine , la canción no me gusto
Great song. But They got it wrong. Mahogany is the better song
thanks for posting your comment.we are on the same boat!

Did anyone notice? They never mentioned Trump!!!
not impressed with his version, though, for some reason, I liked the remake(but don't remember the artist, ARGHH). but a great great song, one of my favorites, at least my bf's anyway...
Richard’s Window is a good song, but the movie that the song is used in is FUCKING AWFUL.
ideat
RICHARD'S WINDOW should've one. "I'm Easy" is such a nothing little song.
Theme from MAHOGANY should have won
