  • Over the last few months, I have been collecting clips whenever a squirrel was caught leaping from the trees onto my bird feeders.
    In this video, you will see 31 squirrel jumps. Some are much more graceful than others, but they all provide a lot of entertainment.
    These jumping squirrels were videotaped from my live bird feeder cam. The black squirrels are my favorite.
    SUPPORT Bird Watching HQ by shopping my favorite bird feeders, squirrel-proof items, books, etc at my Amazon store! geni.us/bwhqstore 😀

    I know i have already commented before but after watching this again I can't help but notice how well they parkour from one object to another in the blink of an eye! After jumping such distance you would think they would get a sliver in their paw from the wood 🪵 splinters. Anazing critters!🥰👍❤️❤️

      MJ H No, just like there are different species of squirrels, there are also variety’s of a certain type of squirrel. They can also be dark grey, and white. If you ever see a white squirrel you might want to check the eyes and any exposed undercoat though, they could possibly be an albino and not a variation of grey squirrels at all.

    That's incredible, they are little buggers aren't they 😂 I guess the birds will get used to the squirrels eventually. I live in an apartment building on the fifth floor with no balcony and about 10 minutes ago a squirrel jumped onto my window screen! Frightened the life out of my cat.
    I've seen them a few times now clinging to the brickwork. Thank you for showing these videos! 🙏🏻

      @tacksscherbo7771 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mjh5437 They will climb right up a brick wall!! I had a brick house in the past and always hung feeders on the perimeter of my covered patio. When the tray bird feeder under the tree was empty, a squirrel would climb right up the wall to the kitchen window, and either try to get in through the screen or would start squawking like crazy if the window wasn't open until I went out and filled the tray. No joke!! I hung a hummingbird feeder out there as well for many years, and in spring when they arrived, they would "announce" their arrival by hovering outside the large picture window next to the kitchen table until I hung the feeder on the patio. That always used to amaze me - every spring they would do it. I guess if they lived for their five years, in time they had an idea where their food came from.

    thanks for the vid... the Canadian judge give #26-30 top marks for sticking the landing on the green metallic feeder. Used your footage to place my solo feeder just far enough away so its a 4-5 ft horizontal jump to a steel 8 x 8 in flat roof on a feeder. My fav squirrel shows up around 09:30 daily, and was able to pry the flat roof off... after she defeated the slinky on the 1 in rebar. Love challenging the little buggers. Amazing beasts, surely. How can something that weighs less than my brain be so able?

  • @highspeedboom
    @highspeedboom 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can put 6 inch galvanized steel stove pipe around your trees where they like to launch, they can’t climb or hold on to the slick pipe. It’s about $14 for each 5 foot pipe. It works, i use it to protect my bird feeder.

    Squirrels are basically the bullies of backyards lol. People call pigeons the "rats of the sky" but squirrels might as well be the rats of the suburbs. On the one hand, it's frustrating how they eat the birdseed and scare away the birds, on the other they are kinda cute and you gotta admire their ingenuity.

    Hello Scott, this is totally off topic from video but I was wanting to ask you some questions please. The big green metal feeder can you set it just to feed one starling at a time? Also is it hard for the birds to sling seed all out on the ground? Thanks 😊

    • @BirdWatchingHQ
      @BirdWatchingHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      The green feeder is weight triggered so a starling would be too heavy for that feeder. It is for smaller birds. And you cant set it, it is set and thats all you can do. And yes it is hard for the birds to sling seed on the ground which is a good thing because with this feeder there is less mess. Thanks for watching.
