I absolutely love your videos- without them i would have given up on improving at sudoku long ago! I never, EVER spot something you don’t, so it was agonizing to watch you pencil r3 at 4:01 and not spot the only place 7 could go… I knew it’d be a tough road, without that early ‘win.’ Kudos to you for sticking with it and showing us all how to crack a very tough puzzle!
Lots of comments from everyone today! I always like to see before starting, that the video is a bit longer because that often means a trickier puzzle. Today that was true, and I really liked this puzzle for that reason. Thanks for your videos.
A tough one! I don't know if you're ever looking back these puzzles for a second time. A 7 in r3 is there already from the beginning - for the row. That gives a punch of 468 and 159 triples all over the place - and also some digits. That was a good starting point. For me... pointing 1s in b2 helped a lot (like you). And the final touch was finding pointing 3s in b9. You found the same stuff via c8 when you found that 25 pair and a 3 in c9. It could have been found easily via pointing 3s in b9.
The interesting pattern of givens caused me to notice the naked single in box 7 right away. That placed the triple in box 1 and the other pairs and triples appeared very quickly after that. A very fun puzzle!
I don't feel bad today after watching your video, my puzzle path looked just like yours. Keep up the great work and by the way looking forward to the video on how you get all this content on line every day.
A grind! Hardest puzzle ive finished. 54 min. Normally corner marks enough but needed corner marks as well today. Thank you for video - watched it after and reassured i hadnt missed anything obvious.
2:30 I had a hard time with the puzzle, because I somehow botched the markings. But after backtracking to a correct state, wiping out my marks and refilling them, I found an X-wing in 1s. This cracked the puzzle. I can see it now in your grid. Place 7 in row 3, and restrict 1 in column 2 -- for me, a 159 triple did it -- and the X-wing is in rows 3 and 5, and columns 1 and 6. On the other hand, I just noticed that a pointing pair in 1s would have done the job. (Sigh.) 13:20 That cell you address gives you the pointing pair in 1s. I'm also fidgeting about 7 in row 3. 16:20 Row 5 has five digits. That's something to look at. 19:00 I'm mentally wagering with myself, whether you find the X-wing or the pointing pair. Since you're on column 6, my current guess is the pointing pair. I had a few more digits placed, and everything centermarked. Maybe finding the position won't crack the puzzle the way it did for me. The END: You found the pointing pair, block 2 column 6. You sped up once you found it.
@@d.r.6333 I point out and highlight the 579 triple at around 11:58 which eliminates 579 from the rest of row 1, including the only other place in box 2 that could be a 7 (based on the corner marks I already had). If you don't know how naked triples work, I recommend watching this video where I carefully and meticulously go over all the techniques you'll need to know to follow along with my NYT Hard solves: th-cam.com/video/al962DWE1S0/w-d-xo.html
Yeah this was an absolute slog beginning to end. Technically when you pencilled row 3 you missed the hidden 7/naked 159 triple, but even then I think the only way through was pencilling everything and spotting the singles & pairs.
Your solve was very similar to mine, so I don't think there was anything easier. A lot of hidden singles in rows and columns which are just hard to spot. Missed the r3 single for ages as well.

22:34 for me! Thank you, Rangsk, for your videos. You are an excellent teacher!

A classic of the "sometimes you just have to pencil everything" genre. Great solve today.

You place 7 in the row 3 column 3 in the very begin. It will be very helpful.

12:44. Nice one!
41:07 oof, that was tough. Had a 25 pair marked in column 8 and didn’t see it. That unraveled the entire puzzle 🤦🏾♀️
14:10, very tough and thought I was lucky to spot the 7 issue in r3.
Very hard
Thank you
Any chance you could do the medium today? Not sure what I'm missing on it. I've been on a roll with the mediums lately too
Great Puzzle
13:37 for me. I expected it to be much harder than what it turned out to be given everyone else's solve times.
i don't understand how that is a 579 triple at 12 minutes. How does anything restrict a 7 from the 2nd row last column?
In row 3 there is only one cell where 7 can go, claiming it for the box.
I'm not sure why you're asking about row 2 when the 579 triple is in row 1. Can you elaborate on your confusion?
@@Rangsk sorry, i meant restrict a 7 TO the second row in that block. I don't see the triple in the first row.

Tough one today!
Oh... and at some point there were pointing 5s in b8. You found that 5 in c6 in a different way.
37:36 tough one
10:08 to solve.
I waited 15 minutes for your big 7 in row 3...........
This was a hard-fought battle...

@@DamienJones-um7cr you hit the nail on the head - lots of row & column hiddens vs box hiddens
21:53, a bit of a slog for sure!
I didn't finish this nightmare of a puzzle.
