  • Hey sailors,
The majority of you that watch my videos are interested in working on cruise ships. Therefore I thought you would enjoy a comparison between working on cruise ships and working on superyachts. You may have not considered working on Yachts but it's definitely a great option.

Never work for free day working on yachts, and you can work on a yacht with no maritime experience. Hospitality is enough to get your foot in the door. :)

Another big difference is that when you work on a private yacht, or when the yacht is not chartering - crew do have off days. On cruise ships there are no days off. Also, when working on a yacht, you get vacation pay, while on cruise ships, you only get paid for the time spent onboard. 😊

I would love a video about transferring as a officer on cruise ships to officer of a yacht.

Lucy: One request. Could you turn the volume up on your videos? I always find I have to turn the volume up a lot to hear your videos. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before?

Beautiful. This helped a lot. I will be graduating this year and I have been contemplating whether to go to a cruise or a private yatch. Now I know I want to work on a yatch

I don't care how much money I have and if I own a yacht I would never wake up my crew at odd hours and make them work. That's a ass thing to do.

Congrats Lucy! You're quite the entertainer. Could you please let us know which region of the UK you hail from? Judging by your lovely accent I'm guessing West Midlands. Am I way off?

I’ve been loving your videos ! Congrats on the anniversary ! I wanted to ask, I’ve seen on some of your videos info box that you have a video where you interview a cruise ship receptionist but the link doesn’t actually takes you to it :O Is it available to watch ?

SY v CS: One area where I could see the staff member being better off on a SY is if they are very good at all the skills ie massage, spa etc etc, but are not great or natural salespeople.
Would this be a correct assumption?

If you young and you want a career that you can use when getting off a boat then cruise ship is better especially if in F&B department.... plus the money as you hit management on cruise ships is just as good as the yachts.. if your goal is money and after you have had enough then you are entrepreurial then yachting is the best.... concern with cruise is no holiday pay while yachting can be great 2 months on 2 months off and paid the whole year (obviously those jobs are hard to get)...another big difference is yachts will have a lot of entitled rich kids with dad's money.... so if you a hot girl with minimal skill then many yacts will take those dockwalkers... and just by the way, quite a number of yachts are used for prostituion and parties that can be pretty dodgy.

with you saying that on super yachts the workers have to do whatever it takes, what safety net would be to protect them (namely servers, and or massage therapists) from inappropriate requests?
on cruise ships , I imagine that the rule banning guests and workers from being intimate is a rather decent safety net. but what is there if any to protect the spa staff on a boat, especially if the inappropriate request is from a friend of the owner?
