    ▪ Karin Rådström, CEO Mercedes-Benz Trucks: “The eActros 600 stands for the transformation of road freight transport towards CO2-neutrality like no other truck with a three-pointed star. It is characterized by highly innovative drive technology that can offer our customers particularly high energy efficiency and thus profitability. This makes entry into e-mobility even more attractive for fleet operators.”
    Mercedes-Benz Trucks has unveiled the series version of the first battery-electric long-haul truck with the three-pointed star. The manufacturer presented the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 today as a world premiere to an international audience at an event south of Hamburg. With this heavy-duty electric truck, the manufacturer plans to define the new standard in road freight transport - in terms of technology, sustainability, design and profitability for e-fleet operators.
    The high battery capacity of more than 600 kilowatt hours - hence the model designation 600 - and a new, particularly efficient electric drive axle developed in-house, enable the e-truck to achieve a range of 500 kilometers1 without intermediate charging. Therefore, the eActros 600 will be able to travel significantly more than 1,000 kilometers per day. This is made possible by intermediate charging during the legally prescribed driver breaks - even without megawatt-charging. Around 60 percent of long-distance journeys of Mercedes-Benz Trucks customers in Europe are shorter than 500 kilometers anyway, which means charging infrastructure at the depot and at the loading and unloading points is sufficient in such cases. For all other uses, continual expansion of public charging infrastructure is vital in order to make the electric truck viable for long-distance haulage across Europe. In addition to CCS charging with up to 400 kW, the eActros 600 will later also enable megawatt charging (MCS). From the start of sales, customers can order a pre-installation for this. As soon as MCS technology becomes available and is standardized across manufacturers, it is planned to be retrofittable for these models of the eActros 600. The batteries can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes at a suitable charging station with an output of around one megawatt.
    The vehicle is technically designed for a gross combination weight of up to 44 tons. With a standard semitrailer, the eActros 600 has a payload of around 22 tons in the EU. In some cases, national law may permit a higher payload. Visually, the e-truck is characterized by a fundamentally new, puristic design with clear lines and an aerodynamic shape. When it comes to profitability for fleet operators, the electric truck is intended to set new standards, over the long term replacing the majority of diesel trucks in the important long-haul transport segment. The core of Mercedes-Benz Trucks‘ concept for battery-electric long-distance transport is to offer customers a holistic solution consisting of vehicle technology, consulting, charging infrastructure and services.
    Sales of the electric truck start this year. The start of series production is planned for the end of 2024. In addition to the tractor unit, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will also produce rigid variants of the eActros 600 right from market launch, offering customers further possible applications for all-electric transport. A fleet of around fifty prototype vehicles is currently being built, some of which are also to be put into practical testing with first customers in a next step.
    Karin Rådström, CEO Mercedes-Benz Trucks: “The eActros 600 stands for the transformation of road freight transport towards CO2-neutrality like no other truck with a three-pointed star. It is characterized by highly innovative drive technology that can offer our customers particularly high energy efficiency and thus profitability. This makes entry into e-mobility even more attractive for fleet operators.”

      It's a nice idea. And probably perfectly engineered. But its 22 tons of cargo only. A regular 40 ton truck wheighs 13 Tons. So about 27 tons payload and the regular truck is cheaper.
      A 44ton electric truck is still not a 40 ton regular truck...Isn't that a legal problem?

    When I first saw this truck I thought it was ugly as hell and I could not stand it. I was even wondering how could anyone with more than 2 brain cells see this design and approve it but....there is always BUT...the more I see it the more I like it and It came to that point where it is actually gorgeous! I just sincerely hope Mercedes will give the license to SCS to add this truck to the Euro Truck Simulator 2

    Trucks and buses should be highest priority, most are equivalent to 100 commuter cars in fuel usage.

      Sure, I agree.
      And they are trying, but you can not make new world over night.. most trucks will still drive on diesel, because the infrastructure is a lot behind.. you can barely park truck after 18:00 on main highways.. after driving it for 550-600km that day, you have to plug it and then go to sleep.. very inconvenient at this moment :/ I am talking for international loads.. where you pick up and deliver 1000+km away..
      It will be interesting how this will evolve, can’t wait..

      @@Lukec563well right now there aren't any long haul electric semi trucks. So that's why there is no charging infrastructure for it. Tesla teased for a long time, but still nothing on a large scale. If some come, most definitely things will change on the charging infrastructure side

      @@bq5577x only in Germany, there is 313,000 registered parking spaces for trucks.. it would/will cost 35B Euros to build charging stations. Plus, you will need even more parking spaces to charge it every day vs. now 1 or 2 times a week for 15-20 min depends on the pump..
      Anyway, will take some time and money to prepare the infrastructure ✌️

    Beside all that eco/green madness...So whats the solution for heavy haul transport? No electric truck seems to be capable to fill that segment

    • @Simon-dm8zv
      @Simon-dm8zv 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why do you think it is a ‘madness’? And obviously heavy haul will be fully electric as well in the near future.

    • @fboest
      @fboest 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Simon-dm8zv You really think those trucks can pull 100-200-300 tons in same way and same performance as right now 8x4 trucks? Where you think they will go and charge those trucks when they have oversize loads behind them? Right now trucks have 1000-1200 liters of fuel with them to maintain enaough fuel from A to B location.

    • @Simon-dm8zv
      @Simon-dm8zv 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fboest Of course, electric motors are often stronger than diesel engines. And fast chargers will be everywhere, also for trucks.

    • @fboest
      @fboest 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Simon-dm8zv are you kidding with loading capabilities? LOL When that’s going to happen?? 10 years? 15 years? Do you understand that trucks do not make any fuel stops with huge loads because they do not fit into stations and that’s why they have 1000+ liters fuel tanks to drive from point A to point B without refueling. Ofcorse it’s nice to dream but I can’t see that happen in heavy haul segment

    • @Simon-dm8zv
      @Simon-dm8zv 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fboestThe eActros in the video above is already capable of 500 km range. In less than 10 years your scenario should definitely be possible. Heavy loads are only slightly wider than a normal truck because they still have to fit on the road, so obviously they will also fit in a charging bay.
