How well do you know your Southern African birds calls? Find out by playing along with my bird call challenge over the next ten days! Each day I will post a video with 15 bird calls - 5 easy, 5 moderate and 5 difficult. The challenge is to not only see how many you get right in each video, but also what your grand total is out of 150 at the end of the 10 challenges.

That was a good challenge, the starling threw me off, but today is the best one so far with a score of 14, my grand total is 65 out of 75. Can't complain with that. Thanks for the videos please keep them coming!

10/15. I notice my brain needs context. Several of those I struggled with would be easy if I am in the right habitat. I suspect this is a challenge shared by many!

13/15. Argghh! Could not remember which Sandgrouse occurs in the north-eastern part of the country and went with Burchell's instead of Double-banded! Then went with Burchell's Starling over Meve's. Total score: 66/75

Just started with the challenges. The Meves caught me out. I was very lucky with this round, as many of these calls are from my garden in the Kruger. Except for the Trumpeter Hornbill.

57/75. Thought it was going to go much better with this challenge. Bummer. With some bird calls on the apps., the most commonly-heard call is not used and this threw me off re. the Firefinch. I most often hear its alarm call because you stumble across them and flush them. I was at those freakin' Meves's Starlings months ago and thought it was rather the Burchell's'. Any way, thanks and enjoying it a lot. Good fun!
