Hello Thale [ Thale's Music Corner ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome [BACK, after... 15 years?!] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This music video is the 4th single released in advance from their upcoming studio album Yesterwynde (2024) and also the last track of the album, featuring Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, .and (at the end) Troy Donockley, multi-instrumentalist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘
My personal song of the year 2024. Top 3 in my NW rating. Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep in the finnish winter outside in the woods and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable. Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!
Welcome back to Nightwish. There has been quite a shift from the Nightwish of old. Floor has given Nightwish a new dimension by the sheer versatility of her vocals. She can cover the operatic vocals of Tarja and the pop vocals of Annette but also rock and metal vocals that make her the complete package. I’m looking forward to your reactions to more recent Nightwish songs. Greetings from the UK.
It's about people who have passed away but are seen again in the daily things we do. They are always with you in everything you see and hear. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Well, you now have twelve years of Floor singing with Nightwish to catch up on. How I envy you, hearing all these great songs and performances for the first time.....
You have been missing Floor since her taking over in late 2012. She can sing anything recorded by both Tarja Turunen ( 1996-2005 operatic) and Anette Olzon ( 2007-2012 pop) with consumate ease. Most reactors start with songs from Wacken 2013 begining with Ghost Love Score. Most people except die-hard Tarja or Anette fans acknowledge that Floor was the perfect fit for Nightwish. And to think that she recorded the vocals for this complete album at home in six days only six weeks after giving birth to her daughter Lucy.
Perfectly worded 👏 I've been a Nightwish fan for decades. I still love Tarja and Anette, but Floor was just the perfect replacement in an ever evolving band. Her voice.. range.. presence and personality are just unmatched. Her whole lifestory just adds a whole new dimension to Nightwish 🙌
Very cinematic. Tuomas loves movie music like produced by Hans Zimmer. The London orchestra and choirs he has written for have contributed greatly to many of the recent albums, particularly this last album. There is a lot of variety in the songs, and Lantern Light has little to no metal in it other than the orchestra's brass section..... and the male voice is Troy, the multi-instrumentalist who joined the band full time in 2013 with Floor. There have been other lineup changes you will notice as you continue. No live versions exist for the 2024 Yesterwynd album, but a number of excellent recorded concerts from 2013 onward with Floor are available to explore. Enjoy.
You started in in the end of the trilogy. So maybe the good way to dive in would go to where this all started. album Endless forms most beautifull, then Human :: nature and this, Yesterwynde. This is the deep dive to the core of all being, like you and me and everything around us. This trilogy in fact pretty much underlines Floor Jansen era of Nightwish. On the way you find unbelievable live takes heart melting poetry of Tuomas and music that has no par in todays music business. You said that you have 15 years gap of Nightwish, that means you enourmos amount of easter eggs to find in music. I'm a bit of envious for that. One thing, if you like to dive in finnish vario of music is this th-cam.com/video/bb_bf-KPqwc/w-d-xo.html a queen copy, but not maybe what enyone could expect and once again something like poets of the fall in depth to dive in.
When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on TH-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered TH-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 8 years next march) and Lucy (1 year this october),a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.
Enjoyed your reaction!. Final song from the final album of the trilogy of Endless Forms Most Beautiful, Human Nature, and Yesterwynde . It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. A beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father and all that are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass.
To use Tuomas words: Floor is the best in what she is doing...for me she is unmatched as a performer in these days. I hope we will get also a live version.

Congratulations, you have listened to one of the best singers in the world.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
Quite frankly the dictionary definition of "Beautiful" needs to be updated to "Lanternlight."
I absolutely agree ❤️

Yes please if you could do more Nightwish that would be excellent...
I’d love to get back to Nightwish, so I’ll absolutely check out more ❤️
Thale.....you have a nice spacious wall behind you as well as a very little screen. I assume there is space left for a bigger screen. Try it. Lol.
To use Tuomas words: Floor is the best in what she is doing...for me she is unmatched as a performer in these days. I hope we will get also a live version.
Compouser Tuomas Holopainen metal Mozart
The J is pronounced as a Y .. therefore .. Yansen
