    Superb,i remember the mayors parade it used to be one of the best in the country,not anymore though things have changed over the years in Barnsley it is a shame it is a lovely town,i was born here lived in Monk Bretton for most of my life, i now live in Scarborough but i still love to pop over now and again,thanks for the look back at my teenage days,i was 16 when this video was made...........John

    so nice to see, i was brought up in Darfield and when i google Barnsley now it's just football news and violence, great to see the old town i was involved in so much looking like i remember it when a kid

    My Dad used to drive the floats later on in the 70's when they switched to the bigger articulated lorries, one year he had to dress up as an Arab- I think it was to drive the S R Gent float. Childhood memories.

    lol, did you see that float...... "train for a good future" NCB.... less that 10 years later thatcher happened..
