100 percent agree with you on scream. Its a genuinely fun coaster layout, and I've never noticed a rattle. also I don't think i've ever waited longer than 5 mins to ride it. i'm always surprised to hear people complain about it. I feel like its because SFMM has sooo many great coasters that this one sorta pales in comparison.
Gotta disagree, I think it's straight up rougher than Viper. I couldn't tell you why, but the first time I rode it, it shook me so hard I couldn't see, and during the final brake run it jerked and punched me in the face with the restraints. Viper's never given me anything worse than sore shoulders and that ride's my minimum two-rides-per-trip coaster.
I'm from Chicago suburbs so SF Great America is my local park and I do love it, but I've been to Magic Mountain once and it truly blows GA away. I've only been to two other Six Flags (St. Louis and New England) which are both pretty good but Magic Mountain is so superior. Dying to go to Cedar Point now.
The last time I was at Magic Mountain was 1981. The original Collossus was the big thing then. I remember it being pretty good, but I was as GP as you can get then (and still am!). I'm sure it would probably be, what, the 9th best coaster there today? I remember riding Gold Rusher when I visited the park for the very first time... in 1974. I remember it being the 4th best coaster at the time, and probably my favorite because it wasn't so intense. At the time, a ride called Mountain Express was arguably the top attraction but frankly, that ride was a hot mess. All it did was make me pretty nauseous and nearly killed my poor father. Love the footage with the sun shining in the background; really nice stuff!
I've been waiting for this video ALL my life. I've been to a ton of amusement parks in my time, to include Fuji-Q Highland, and NONE of them are better than Magic Mountain. NOT ONE. Some may have bigger and better rides, they still don't top MM. Your list is almost identical to how mine would be numbered. I'd have left off the kid coasters though, only because I've never ridden any of them. Scream is a pretty decent coaster. Definitely not rough at all. Probably one of the most smooth in the park. I would waffle between Twisted Colossus and Tatsu as my number 2. Absolutely a hard decision. I've only ever been on TC one time, so Tatsu would likely have been my number 2. Full Throttle in the top 5 for sure. X2 is of course, top dog on my list as well. Absolutely the most insane and wonderful coaster that I have ever been on.
I was able to head over to Magic Mountain a couple weeks ago. We got to ride a lot of rollercoasters and probably could have fir more in that day. We were first in line for twisted colossus, as well as Scream right afterwards. Scream was not rough at all and it was quite enjoyable. Then we hit Goliath which had about a 10 minute long line. Next was Viper, which for me was one of the roughest coasters I have ever been on and there was a lot of head banging. my dad was in pain after that ride. After viper we went on Tatsu, which I loved. Next was X2 which was so intense, but awesome. Both Tatsu and X2 had about a 20-30 minute wait. Last, we road West Coast Racers, which was the only ride that had a wait time over an hour, but it was a fun ride too. I don’t understand the hate it gets tbh. 7 years ago I rode Batman and it was going backwards at the time, but damn that ride was rough and my neck/back hurt the rest of the day and my friends felt the same too. The only other Batman clone I’ve ridden is the one at Fiesta Texas, which I thought was very smooth and I rode that one 3 times in a row. I didn’t start riding rollercoasters up until a couple months ago, so the only major ones I have been on were at Fiesta Texas, Magic Mountain, and Knott’s from the last couple months.
I haven't ridden Viper, Superman: Escape From Krypton, Batman: The Ride, Twisted Colossus or West Coast Racers yet so for now my favorite coaster there is Full Throttle followed by The Riddler's Revenge followed by Apocalypse, Colossus, Scream, Goliath, Tatsu, Ninja, X2, Goldrusher, Green Lantern: First Flight, and the Revolution. This park had the best collection of roller coasters I've experienced that this was one of the hardest rankings ever.
While I don’t have Goliath quite as low as you, it really speaks volumes of the strength of SFMM’s lineup when the imposing 255ft coaster is not even in their upper echelon of coasters.
Back in the 90s Viper was one of my favorite rides in spite of smacking the sides of my head on the shoulder harness. If they have made the ride smoother or the harness more comfortable then I look forward to riding it again.
How is the food there? My home park is Canada's Wonderland and the food there was completely terrible with no clean area to sit and eat. Hope they improve that when they reopen!
I was there on first opening day, it went all the way to the top, I believe it went backwards too! I was wondering when they were gonna fixed that! The drops on the old Colossus was awesome, the new one looks cool!
