My last 2 visits to the store closing near me have been horrible, they truly have the worst employees. edit: Wanted to throw this in regarding pricing. 5% off is a joke, they had multiple amps (floor models, used by people) that were marked higher than brand new on Sweetwater. Multiple 100s higher, pretty despicable to see. They also had broken amps up front that I was looking at buying to repair. They RAISED the prices on them, and removed the broken verbiage. Not sure what's going on there but like you said, this is why the store is closing.
Yup its absolutely awful. I mean I was chatting with some other customers in the store yesterday and we agreed why would anyone buy beat up floor models at 5% from a closing business when you could call any online competitors and get 10-15% off actual new in box 📦 condition? Makes no sense
I was just able to buy my dream guitar at Sam Ash (New Taylor 912ce Builders Edition) which retails for $5,999 for 45% off. The trick was to negotiate it via their reverb account. After two counter offers they accepted my price and immediately placed the order. Big win! 🤘😎
I worked for sam ash in pro audio for about 2 years almost 10 years ago. Writing was on the wall then. Employee turnover was unreal and it felt like the place never built institutional knowledge. It doesnt surprise me it took you so long to check out. This was always an issue even when I worked there years ago. They even trained us to prioritize the phones over customers in the store. "the folks in the store are already here, the customer on the phone is a new lead!"
Thanks for sharing your experience. Wow, such a low grade of service. Imagine blowing off customers in store ready to checkout who are already committed to purchase to instead grab the phone. Priorities so out of order. No surprise they are done.
I've been to the Manhattan store 3 times since they initially announced their closing....so far, all I have purchased is a drum head. Nothing was really discounted. But each time I went back, there was less and less gear. I think they're up to like 20% off now. They're milking it! Trying to get whatever they can before they really start with insane discounts. Sad that they are closing nonetheless. They never really had an online presence, which in the long run hurt em as well.
I mean I might as well have ordered from Sweetwater anyway for the past few years. Odds were high Sam Ash didn't even have what I wanted in stock, and if I had to order it either way, why not get the better price from SW?

This same thing has happened to me over the last few years. I stop in to buy strings and have to go to a different department to pay after waiting. RIP
Talk about picked clean. Sucks about the wait. It's why I don't go to my local GC anymore it took 15 min for set of strings. I ended up just going online after that. Sweetwater is the way now.
It's tragic alright! These simple transactions should not be a 15 min process. Still amazed how they advertise 30% off at the door and have the audacity to only give 5% off on the tags SMH. What a joke!
@@TopShelfGear I can’t say I’m surprised. Whatever they have left over will likely go to their main warehouse for the online store. They use those “everything must go” signs to try and get a few final door swings before the inevitable happens.
There are no music stores anywhere near me, never been to a Sam Ash. I have been a customer with Sweetwater & Wildwood Guitars since 2007. Never had a bad experiance with either and their customer service has been outstanding.
Loved the video however I didn't subscribe because you had 182 subscribers I'm sure that will change since the posting of this comment but you had 182 subs and I had to blink 182 times!
LOL 5%. What a pathetic joke. Call Sweetwater. Ge a guarantee, and a 55-Point inspection. You know you'll get great gear. And just on the off chance something happened, and you didn't.. they'll send you a shipping label, and literally send the Driver to your door to pick it up. But that almost never happens. And guess what? Same retail prices... and they take 10% off or more.... almost every single time. I used to love going in Sam Ash. But... that ended years ago. A real shame, b'c I am a "go to the store" kind of guy.

That's a sweet deal for sure! Nicely done!
Wow this is depressing. Strong 90s video stores closing vibe.
So sad! it definitely gave me some blockbuster vibes with those old bubble TV's they still had in there 😔

Is it one of those situations that they are having a “going out of business” sale to only close for a few weeks to reopen under a different name?
Nah they're done for good from I have read. Sad times for retailers! Long live Sweetwater
Piss poor discount prices, think I’ll pass…
Totally misleading 30% off sign on the front of the store! The. They offer a measly 5% on the tags... what a joke.
This economy is ruining everything! 😢
It's awful 😖 high interest rates, inflation, stagnant wages, businesses closing 😓

Guitar center is next. Only a matter of time.
Unfortunately this is likely the case 🙁

Makes sense for strings. For guitars and amps, gc can still survive because people need to try instruments before buying
It’s a shame your final memory of a Sam Ash will be a sour one.
😕😕😕 5% off man... what a joke! Smh

Really hard to beat Sweetwater. Top notch service all day.
@@TopShelfGear 100% Agreed
Pretty cool that the only thing discounted wasn't.
This store was decently stocked with electric guitar more than here in Orlando when I went
It will likely stay this way with these 5% off discounts 😂
@@TopShelfGear smh! 🤦🏻♂️
sam ash had put on some drum clinic-s back in the day , not possible now as they closed
5% off. FIVE.
It's almost insulting isn't it?
@@TopShelfGearit is insulting! Right brother? What a joke.
what was 30% off i saw was 5%.
Yup! Totally misleading!
THe Sam Ash where I live went up to 70% off on things. Guitars were 30% off last time I checked.
Yeah super misleading signs up front as shown in this case with this particular store. 5% pretty much a joke for a place going out of business.

Hahahaha thanks for watching! More videos to come 😀
I mean I hate to say it but what do you expect people are losing their jobs and you want them to be like it’s your first day at Disney land lmaoooo
Amazing how there's no difference in how bad there service is from 10 years ago to their last dying days 😂
Why is your video backwards?
I rarely use the forward facing phone camera, maybe just the way it reverses the image idk 🤷♂️
