There is a link between diet, depression and auto-immune diseases like psoriasis. Try get her to change her diet to a more wholesome, clean diet and avoid inflammatory foods like dairy, meat, alcohol etc. Basically get her to eat mainly vegan. Hope this will help Mum :)

DeathnoteBB Yes but red meat typically takes longer to digest and contains more fat and cholesterol than meats like fish or chicken (unless your cooking it in some crazy shit)- and because its harder to digest- especially if you dont cook it enough- it can go bad in side your stomach causing pain and indigestion as well as inflammation. “Going vegan” is more of an extreme thought of it, but sticking to more vegetables, lentils, white meats, breads, and fruits (some fruits can be inflammatory so you have to play those by ear)

Buy Listerine or Store brand Listerine and use it on the scalp. It eliminates scalp issues such as itchy scalp,"clumpy" dandruff, and the majority of scalp issues due to thick hair and oily glands. I had terrible scalp problems until I used it. Dandruff Shampoos all suck and dripping Listerine on the scalp is cheap but effective. Make your own applicating bottle to drip slowly for better control.

I wash a section of my hair and scalp with creme of nature with Shae butter and Mango afterwards I then let it air dry then oil the scalp with blue magic or bergamont. A heavy grease. Then braid my hair. I have a clean scalp and my natural hair is thick. Oil it in the middle of the week. Try it just on the kitchen area and see how your scalp reacts. I oil my scalp every other day or when it feels dry.

It's there, it wont go away, and its treatable, but not curable. I just wanted to say it's going to be okay, you're a strong person for dealing with the lack of insight and knowledge of people who are supposed to be professionals in their field, and I hope your days get easier and not to let peoples lack of understanding affect you. I totally get your point, and I am a hairstylist who helps specialises in scalp conditions like this but it's not a right unfortunately. A stylist is well within their right not to touch broken skin, skin that could possibly be infected or infested in anyway and like this stylist said, it's illigal for a stylist to diagnose conditions to avound harming the client in question or cross contamination to other clients so many stylists will see someone with crusty skin of any kind and refuse treatment, also many treatments are contraindicated with certain conditions, I personally probably couldn't offer a braided weave to a client with psoriasis personally because I think it's important to massage and move the scalp and it's hard to do that with a weave, I'm not saying this girl shouldn't but I don't know if I'd be prepared to take that chance. It is a stylists perogative to make the best decision for individual clients, I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it's not a universal right to get a service just FYI.

Have you tried Ayurvedic treatment ? If not please do. a mix of virgin coconut oil, pure sulphur and edible camphor considerably reduces skin issues. pure sulphur is called Gandhak in ayurveda and you will either get it online or in any Indian store . take 5 tablespoons of oil, about half a teaspoon of the sulphur and about 5 tablets of the edible camphor. grind this to a paste using mortar and pestle. apply this for 20-30 mins on the affected area and wash with a paste made of chickpea flour and water.
Chickpea flour with mung bean flour paste is extremely beneficial for skin and can be easily used as a soap alternative. try it.

Watching the steps and care this woman made was so wonderful. I agree with some of the other people who have said it’s often embarrassing how people treat you, when this isn’t a hygiene issue, but rather medical. I feel like I’m scratching all the time. I don’t know if this is hereditary or not, but my adult daughter has it too.

I developed psoriasis 5 years ago and haven't had my hair professionally cut or coloured since because I have heard so many horror stories of people being humiliated. My hair is now almost at my waist and becoming pretty hard to manage, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and brave a salon.
Fingers crossed I find an angel like you ♡ Thank you for your respectful and educational video.

As a hairstylist and a 20 year psoriasis patient, I wish you the best of luck, just let them know when you go to the salon when you get there, often it’s hard for some stylists to tell the difference between scalp conditions, but if they know it’s psoriasis, good hairstylists know that it’s nothing you did to make your skin that way and how to help you. They’ll know that there’s little we can do to get it VERY clear without a dermatologists help. Good luck!

    • @shoukaiser
      @shoukaiser 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Its annoying definitely. I have it, am a guy, no weave lol. I'm immensely limited to what hair products I can use as many don't work for me to begin with, some work a little but make the condition worse, or some products work very well but destroy ALL moisture in my hair (t-gel shampoo).
I'm currently stuck on: what to do with my scalp after I clean it? Some hair products that work for me and my super dense, mixed hair can't be put in right after I clean scalp because the flaking will happen twice as fast as normal in that state. I feel like I should be putting on something after scraping my scalp clear and rinsing hair.
I suppose I need a black hair specializing dermatologist or something.
I think I've had an easier time raising cats and dogs than figuring out this hair lol

My s9n had a very bad scalp problem so bad even dermatologists didnt know what to prescribe. First was cutting his hair because it wasnt getting air. So adding weaving to a braided style is definitely not helping this conditions. Her scalp needs air and some medical products.

Terrornaut my significant other had severe scalp issues with psoriasis but is now better because of the products he now uses. Have you tried Shea moisture products specifically the black line that's designed for exzema and psoriasis? Also I don't know if you have ever used henna? it helped a lot with preventing flaking post washing. You are correct you should be using something to moisturize after washing.

Thank you so much for treating this young lady in such a caring and compassionate way we need more licensed professionals like yourself. I struggled with this with my daughter from a very young age maybe age 6-16. After all the dermatologist recommendations and shampoos. I ran across a TH-cam video ( I wish I could locate the video this happened in 2016) that was the answer to our situation. Please understand I struggggggglllllled. But I wanted to share the $1.50 solution with anyone I can. It was “white vinegar” soaked in a towel and placed directly on the scalp. I know this may not sound right because the open sores and irritated scalp but after one time we got immediate results, we were so surprised after all the years the scalp was finally normal and a week later we went over a very normal scalp just to make sure we didn’t miss anything and never had the problem again. Peace and blessings to you all....I know the struggle and I want everyone to be healed.

No. Apple Cider Vinegar is absolutely positively NOT an effective treatment or ‘cure’ for psoriasis. Especially not for a case this severe.
That is why many who suffer from this autoimmune disease are prescribed a biologic (enbrel, humira, etc.) Who would choose to inject themselves every 2 weeks if the solution was a simple trip to the grocery store away?
