As usual great live stream 👍 I got 2 copies of white ahdn and yes looking forward to rsd 3 inch all my loving with white mini case! Thanks for support always!
Great show guys. I would have gotten the huge Mind Games cube if it was half of the price. To pay $1400 made me think twice and I instead went with the book and the CD/Blu-Ray box instead.
Really enjoy these shows especially when the 4 wall group gets together. Special note to Beatley Tone, after hearing Andy and Tom talk about the McCartney Japanese shm CDs I caved and bought the first five after telling you last week that I would not fall into that trap 😞 . You know I can't resist a good duplicate ! Take care guys.
Thanks. Fun listen as always. @2525(cant make it up!) Tone makes an interesting observation. His original 1989 pressing of FITD sounds miles better than the archive release. I dont doubt this and sometimes regret selling my album collection off 20 years ago...Regret over ...as to moving hundreds of boxes of albums was tiresome and cumbersome. @102...midas man andre the giants son cast as ringo! I asked on Tones video "is there not 1 short ringo lookalike in this world?"...1979s birth of the beatles suffered same fate. Tall ringo...shorter john.
Yes it surprised me Russ because when listening to the archive CD remastered main album, Ive always assumed the remastered CD sounded better than the original . Now the archive LP that I listened to is just a digital transfer of what was on the archive CD , so in other words its just a 12" vinyl version of the CD and to my ears the original analogue FITD sounds better. Not sure if this is the same for all the archive LPs but I'll be having a listen when I can and comparing . I will still buy vinyl reissues of Beatles and solo stuff but for other artists if this situation is common I may just buy the CD going forward rather than an LP that sounds the same as a CD but cost 3 times the price
Fascinating!...key words I believe "analog delay"...might be the difference. Perhaps the cleaner digital sound does take some of the guts of the original recording out...conundrum while collecting. Have a good one Tone and thanks again 4 wallsers
I'm not so sure that Paul's story has been debunked - at least, not exactly. What the band wanted to avoid, I'm sure, was going to the USA as an unknown entity, as other UK acts had done, touring there, and basically just disappearing. They knew it wasn't worth doing that, and I'm sure they had discussed it with Brian. Obviously the ideal strategy for breaking America was to have a big hit single there and to go over on the back of that. What you have to remember about "the first US visit" is that it wasn't a tour. The Beatles were initially _only_ going to the USA to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show, and although that was initiated by Brian going to see Sullivan, the latter had already witnessed Beatlemania in London and was well-disposed towards booking the band. Sullivan paid for their air fares and hotel stays, including the Miami visit. But the most interesting apect of the negotiations was Brian's insistence that his unknown band should have a good billing on the show. And to get that, he was willing to take a very low fee for their three appearances. I'd imagine the band would have been persuaded to go to the US without having had a hit single first, in order to appear on a top-rated TV show and then return home. I doubt they'd have asked about their billing on the show. And would the billing have made much difference? Isn't it likely that Brian wanted the good billing because he was aware that there was some reluctance within the band to go to the USA, and he wanted to be able to really sell the trip to them? Ultimately other appearances were added to the trip, but it still didn't constitute a tour (and those appearances were only added _because_ the band had had a big hit). Of course Paul's story overlooks the fact that this trip was arranged when the band hadn't yet had a hit in the US. But it also overlooks the fact that this trip was simply to go and appear on a TV show, which didn't really contravene their conditions. The fact remains that The Beatles had had several number one singles before they toured in the States.
I do agree with Joe, on box sets and the Beatles archives. When you have bought the early albums and even original albums in the Seventies upon (first release), it is difficult to buy these "new" sets, because of the high price. The music has gone way too extreme with mixes, in my opinion. If you get the box sets, fine, but for me, I think it is not necessary. On the topic of Ringo Starr, I liked the album "Why Not" because it showed off more of his drumming skills and I think that one is his best effort along with Liverpool 8 and Ringo 2012 classic Rock albums. Back Off Boogaloo was his best drumming since Rain, nice pattern Rock. The new Country song by Ringo is a bit slow but that is T Bone Burnett's way and I hope it does well.
Im sorry about that Christopher, sometimes comments in text dont reflect the voice they are be being spoken in properly. For example you left a few comments saying at certain songs were better than ones that I had picked. An example of something you said about one of my picks , It's not True - ' Tough on a Tightrope is far better than Its Not True'. This comes across like you are stating fact rather than an opinion so my response was to say that this was my list and therefore only reflects my opinion and I dont agree. I then invited you (and in the actual video, everyone) to leave your own top 20.10,5 etc. If that came across as condescending , Im sorry but I was just making the point about opinions v fact and ranking videos are always about opinions not fact

I love Y NOT too.
I don't like Beatly tone after his condescending reply to my posts on the best Macca b sides. He was passive aggressive
