Mushishi is my favorite anime for me
Like Mushishi it's not something that would be hyped up by the general public as action oriented anime attracts a wider audience. This type of anime attracts the type of audience who can relate to its underlying themes. Loneliness and the need for meaningful friendships and connections are what Natsume Yuujincho portrays. I've always been drawn to this anime and was sad when no more episodes were being made. I'm glad they've found a way to bring it back for another season.

I am stuck at a place where I am glad that this anime is not very popular and the one’s who have watched it are connected to it emotionally but I also want to share this anime with every person that I know because it’s the best slice of life work that’s out there. I just thank everyone involved in it’s creation to let it go on for so many seasons even though it’s not that popular at all.

To me emotional, yes boring no.I try not to watch most sad anime cause it always make me cry river of tears.
Natsume Yuujinchou is not that sad. Is a treat to the soul. It has some sad moments but not depressing, only emotional. Is Beautifull

@@sofialu226 I also agree. I think Natsume's friendships with Tanuma and Taki are nice and wholesome cuz I like how he has friends that are close enough for him to tell his secret ability to see yokai to. Also Natsume is friend's with Natori, an actor who has the same yokai seeing ability as him.

I LOVE Natsume Yuujinchou. Is a bless to the sould haha. Is so good, and known in Japan, but in the West not that much people know about it or talk about it.
Natsume is def my absolute favorite #1 anime! I'm just sad it doesn't get the recognition it deserves

An all-time favorite for sure
The innocent interactions of the invisible good youkai with humans are really bittersweet moments. They really want to communicate with the human they fond/indebted to. The youkai also really fond of Reiko and holding her promise like some precious treasure but sadly Reiko mostly can't fulfill it.

the tree lady spirit episode, where she tormented kid natsume because she cared for him, is my favorite one
'Natsume's book of friends' anime for me is like a warm place which comforts you and makes everything feel so peaceful that you never wanna let go of it.
I can say that this anime (and the manga) was never boring for me and I’ve rewatched it a few times as a teenager and now as an adult and I’ve come to a startling realization; I connected more with the MC in the first two seasons than in the later seasons as a teenager because of my isolationism and as an adult, after allowing my barriers down and making friends for the first time in my life, I’ve started to connect with the MC on a whole new level. I just fell in love with the series in a whole new way.
I like how the story develops and the characters evolve. I watch this with my daughters. The songs are great. My youngest really like the songs. She wouldn't let me skip the opening and ending songs when we watch.

The boy can see ghost so just for clarification it's not romance anime.
His parents died in car accident so he lived with his relatives. But due to his condition of seeing ghost from junior high school, no body trusted him and call him attention seeker and freeloader. He was traumatized both from ghosts and trashy relatives but he met some distant relative. And those were really good people but problem was he had traumatic past so he open up with them slowly because he was afraid that might also get annoyed from him.
Season 1 already start from this point so they will slowly tells about his past and he making new friends in highschool
I will really recommend you watching that Anime. It's really good if you watch it slowly. I mean the anime really made me feel totally relaxed 😌
This is the anime that made me prefer the slice of life genre in anime. And i found out today that a new season is on its way. Man im so hyped!

This anime holds a special place in my heart because it taught me about the importance and beauty of human relationships. It also showed me the complexities of both the absence and presence of these connections, which can be both a blessing and a curse.

I don't want to come across as selfish or spoiled, knowing that not everyone has the privilege of having a mother or a family. Nevertheless, I can't ignore the fact that no matter how many times I declare that I'm better off alone, there's a vast, significant difference between being alone and feeling lonely. This anime served as a beautiful wake-up call in my life, reminding me of these essential truths. 😊

I agree with you but not with "boring at the beginning"part. Well, this anime is not for the hype. It will be slow throughout the series from the start. I think it's supposed be like that.
You don't need to keep watching for the plot. Just stay back, relax, and enjoy every detail slowly.
PS. My advice is to pay attention to all the soundtrack. They're heavenly good.

kinda, there are enough manga chaps to make more eps but they haven't made another season, yet and I don't know if they will
I hope they will 🤞. We got a movie in 2018 and a special episode in 2021, the studio is working on something at the moment too that they will announce later this year, but idk if it is natsume, but it is their most profitable work as far as I can tell, so I'm pretty sure we are getting more. Also it's the anime 15th anniversary and the manga 20th anniversary in Japan this year, so it seems like a good time to announce something.

Yeah it starts off pretty slow and the episodes at the beginning is just mc running away from yokai with nothing super major going on but if you have the time and patience it gets really good and emotional but it's understandable if you don't want to watch it :)
For me it's a beautiful anime from the very start. Every episode is super touching on its own. I don't agree with her opinion. But depends on your taste I guess.
For me, it was already interesting from the start. Even though he did have no friends at the start, he still had Nyanko-sensei with him for the entire first season. But it is true that you only get to know more about Natsume and see him make new friends after you complete the first season.
I dunno man, season 1 had a few eps that left me straight up bawling in tears
I think season 1 is slow ish, but there are some great eps but I absolutely love season 2, it was the moment that I had my, "damn I love this series' moment. And then bought a dvd of all 6 seasons.
