The animations could be a little smoother here though albeit I mostly agree. Really would like something like this with a little more polish and fully customizable character.
One of the things I like the most about these games is the extra sfx used during the fights, from the guard breaks to the finishers. All those whooshing force noises add some extra build up and pay off when Cal finally takes out an enemy during a cool finisher.
Some of the dual saber fighting moves gave me good old Starkiller vibes somehow... Deflection, charged dual sabers throw... Ahh, it's so nostalgic... Thanks man, for real

Body dismembering is the best in Star Wars games. The developers probably love it cuz the lightsaber makes a very clean straight and uniform cut. No complex geometry required
Yet this game has barely any. Only arms and legs, maybe heads and bodies from droids. Its a really great step up from the last game, but still far from the ceiling.

The staff lightsaber has this hidden movset (not really hidden) but if u just spam square it's a combo, if u hold square on each hit its a totally different combo. More hits too it's a skill in it's upgrade tree, try it out guys.
@JaredDrake86 u have to hold square on each attack, try just pressing the buttons each hit and then try holding square on each attack you'll notice the difference.
I absolutely annihilated the Masiff using this method, he went from full health to ded real quick once I realised his whole deal. And yes, I have a video if you are sceptical 😅
I admit the Crossguard needing those long swings is strange but the devs needed some way to make it different from single blade. Its not perfect but it still works. Besiades that extra punch has helped me in a few boss fights

@@D00RYA well yeah, he may not be considered a master in any form, but he is a proficient user un all of them, seen as he’s been capable of defeating Dagan (High Republic renowned Knight), Bode (Jedi Sentinel) and Rayvis (Gen’Dai with many Jedi killed) and as the game lets you use any stance you want, canonically he can beat them with all of them. That said, he is master of no form, so put against a master of any form he would be outclasses in that respective form. The thing is, Cal is a jack-of-all-trades, so he doesn’t need to beat a master of, let’s say Soresu, using Soresu. He instead can switch to Soresu’s counter which would be Makashi, and beat him. Or put against a Makashi user he can switch to Djem So and beat him…
I just realized yesterday that Cal has a different rush attack depending on which weapon he is using. I saw him do a dropkick on an enemy during a gameplay video and just thought it was a move you unlocked but then realized he only did it with the cross-saber.
@KingJohnMichael The vast majority of games are not pvp. In fact every gane besides battlefront and revenge of sith were not saber pvp You've got options king
I believe it has to do with the length of the blade, as the blade is longer than Cal's Normal saber, which is what Cal trained with.: Reference to Din also having a struggle with an uneven blade via darksaber. He can do easier 1-handed strikes with single saber as Cal's used to the feel of that specific length, make the blade longer and it'll feel the plasma forcing it differently.
@@tishen7981 you didnt get my point, you can see here in this video Cal after using the crossguard stance he uses one hand to unsheathe the saber while doing tricks, unlike when fighting he needed to use his two hands when dodging and swinging the sword which is odd

This game has some of the coolest looking combat i've ever seen. It's up there in my list alongside Sleeping Dogs and Assassin's Creed (all of them until Unity).
Very satisfying bro, well done. Also for me, The PS5 version isn’t super buggy but I know others have experienced issues. Honestly one of my most favorite games I’ve played in years, probably Top 5 all time story and gameplay wise for me.
I can remember this satisfying moment using the controlled double bladed lightsaber throw to kill almost an entire room of those annoying scarab enemies on Jedha.
I like that they added blaster into the style of fighting with a lightsaber. Such badassary. Even as Cal guns trooper down flat on his back as a last result.
Might be satisfying on Padowan mode. But it's even more so on Grand Master. Even the Dagan fight was. The feeling of defeating a boss on that difficulty😊😄
@@MisterK9739 this type of game would get boring on an easy difficulty imo would feel repetitive, i’ve been playing on grandmaster difficulty and the enemies are way more aggressive feels good when you beat them.

Blaster stance was weird at first but having given it a lot of time there are areas where it excels. Only wish I didn't have to go to a meditation point to even select them. Would have been cool to come up with combo's cycling through all of the stances.
This! I wish we could cycle through it more easily. I went with saberstaff and crossguard but in some moments, it would have been nice to pull the blaster for some range

It’s so sad that there are performance and fps issues for both ps5 and pc.I’m playing on performance mode and I still encounter frame drop issue for both combat and exploration.Not sure what the dev and ea are doing for the extra one month delay but hopefully these issues will be fixed soon
EA js tweeted that a new pc patch has just been release not so long ago which fixes alot of the problems and there working on a playstation and xbox one for tmrw. thank god
I had the smoothest kill ever early in the game. I staggered a raider, and then Cal grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the staggered animation and cut him across the middle.
When I replay the first two before the third comes out I will give two single blades another shot. It’s high skill, cross guard made more sense to my meathead sensibilities (bludgeon their guard down then power strike) than high skill timing for high damage did

Agreed, it's a great technique a number of melee combat games use to give confirmation and that needed 'oomph' to well-timed strikes and parries.

There are some dismemberments effects in the game, just not as many as in Jedi academy sadly
