Oh my GOD. This makes so much sense. My stance has been way, way too wide and I have been doing way too much of an exaggerated motion. I’d also like to state that, since skating, I have developed a knee issue. It makes so much sense now to use the hips to control your skates.
You are such a master at this art form, and have quickly become one of my all time favorites to watch. I really love that you give so much attention to proper technique, the explanations behind the movements, and care for our skater bodies! It would be such a privilege to skate with you all one day when the world opens up
I just want to say you are hands down the smoothest quad skater I have ever seen. You should get someone to professionally shot and edit you skating and jamming to songs. You would make a killing on TikTok or Instagram and I’m sure the extra money would help you bring us more tutorials like this. Thank you for all you do!! Much love from Tennessee!!
This is by far the best roller skating skill tutorial I’ve seen in the 3 months I’ve been skating. I’m a professional dance artist, performer, and teacher and the way you broke down the technique, progression, and possibility (once technically sound) of this move, with so much clarity, is incredible. Thank you! I’m so grateful. You have a brand new student and fan in CA.
Thank you for your awesome comment! And I just figured out, you are the one on IG with the Hipdrive-exercise-before-bedtime lady! Keep smiling, dancing and of course skating!
A wonderful breakdown of this move & CORRECTION of bad tutorials floating around on social media! I love your attention to safety & integrity of the movements to ensure we can continue to flow as we age ❤️
❤❤❤❤THANK YOU SO SO MUCH. This was the BEST LESSON. I have watched Saved and subscribed videos. But you came to me at 5:06 this morning. I watched, then got extremely excited , jumped up and put my SKATES ON!!! 😊😊😊😊 🥳
This is pure gold. Your previous video was already awesome. It is the only one that made sense to me. I’ve been drilling it and having a lot of fun with it just trusting the proces and the steps you described. Also the music in the previous video helps me a lot. It is so much fun , you can take it slow and still groove. By drilling it I discoverd how important my hips are because I have trouble bringing my front foot to the intermediate position. Watching your new tutorial makes so much sense to me. I could never understand how drilling the cones would help me with crazy legs because I missed the intermediate position in the drill. Watching your new video is a real eye opener. This is pure gold thank you so much. Your previous venue looked really nice hope you find a new one real soon
This is very much like learning to play guitar ... you know where you should be going but making that connection to the brain and the movement is a whole other thing....i really like your explanations , i can realat it to guitar and yoga.👍🏻...it also helps when i have had my adhd medication.. hahaha.
Crazy legging is very easy and simple 👌 Don't have any fear and just tell your brain "I can do this" ask Joe Hill Leo White Tone Myers and E Jay at Skate ⛸ King in the StL. I learned in a month. Thank you for your visual and keep up the great work!
thankyou soo much ive been trying for almost two years cone method ,, im sticking w you on this ..man you are tight and smooth ..cheers from Vancouver bc canada
Right On! Hip drive!!! I came to skating with a bodybuilding background. I was driving the crazy legs with my knees, ankles, and feet. After a bunch of pain, I figured out my problem of not driving from the hip. Well Done Brian!!! I know the book will be filled with all sorts of knowledge like this! Impatiently Waiting.😂 Keep It Funky!
Sa a l air facile le problème ce mec est trop fort je le suis il est né avec des patins il a une fluidité une classe de fou la moindre figur c du délire respect 🙏🙏je pratique le roller mes comme lui je suis à des années lumières 😎🤙🤙
I have found this snippet to be very helpful. My hips were all over the place and not in control of my form. With some practice I hope to correct this and unlock crazy legs.
Thanks Brian. So effectiv and enjoyable. I am still practicing every day a little bit. But it is hard to get into a good flow. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Please throw some Canadian rubber leg in your routine. It’s so much smoother looking than the kick. If the figure 8 comes from your hip it’s easy on the knee. Love your smooth style.
This is the most amazing class. I’ve never heard anything about the hip engagement. I’m 54 and back in skates . It’s been about 30 years . I definitely want to learn correctly and safely. Thank you so much. Do you have any videos on how to engage hips while not learning a move? I also notice your wheels seem farther back on your skates if that makes any sense? Am I correct about that? And why would that be? Is it that you have no toe stop and that make the wheel look farther back? Sorry for the silly questions
I Loooove watching your videos! Thank you so much for sharing. Can you recommend a set of skates for a starter? I noticed that your skates are open at the top and it looks like it would be better for movement, etc. I am a pretty good skater and have rollerbladed for many years and want to get back to skating and focus more on your style of exercise. Any advice is appreciated, and I apologize if you mentioned it somewhere else, but haven’t I seen it. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this- I have been suspecting something was a bit wrong with my Crazy Legs for some time now, but I couldn't pinpoint what is was, what was missing. It's that hip drive you mention, and also I always come to the "heels out" position where you say I should mostly be doing feet straight forward. I'm excited to get on my skates later today and experiment with these techniques to make my CL look and feel better :D
You are most welcome! And you will absolutely benefit from the pointers you mentioned. Realizing where you can improve is the first step to smoother move!
Great video. When I see all 4 wheels glide across the ground. Is that because of the wheel hardness and floor surface? Anytime I do that outside my wheels just skip around
The next weeks I`ll be posting new videos in the downloadshop! So feel free to check on a regular basis for new episodes! www.quadsk8.nl/downloadshop/ Thank you for your support and stay safe!
You are amazing ❤️, thank you So much for this tutorial, so helpful I did hurt myself skating, wish I had See this video before skating, ur very Professional and inspiring, would You please do another couples Skating I enjoyed the soulful music With ur skating techniques Thk u so much ⛸️
Why this looks so smooth is because the movement comes from the hips and not from the bounce. Watch his torso, the movement is subtle and smooth as silk. You can tell a new skater by the bounce and choppy moves.
Can you do a recommendation on skates, wheels, accessories? I have a fairly large garage I can practice in, but it’s a semi rough surface. Just not sure what get to practice with. Again, many thanks!
Info on this topic coming up soon! In the meanwhile, most important thing is to have comfortable boots, so they won't trouble you during your sessions. Plates and wheels can come at a later time, as you build your skills. After a while, you can determine better what you need, according to how your style and preferences for moves evolvrs and takes shape. The surface you skate at the most, helps to make a general choice for wheel hardness. Hybrids are best, they will keep your horizon and options to develop skills broad and interesting. More coming up!
I think your one if the smoothest skaters . Great video can you show moves that a stone cold beginner should do to create balance and strength for these advance moves

Thanks Brian. You taught me this move in your previous videos. And now you’ve taught me why my travel was unbalanced, so I can fix that now. So happy.
Yeeaaaah! Enjoy your achievements!
YESSSSSS I’ve actually been doing quite well with your old tutorial. Excited ☺️
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your progress!
You make the best videos dude. I'm soaking them all up and spreading these moves around to all the skaters in Austin, TX.
Ooooooohhhhh yes yes thank you! I love the way you break it down!
This is brilliant, very helpful, I learned a lot and was making a couple of mistakes with my crazy legs, thankyou!
That ending was bittersweet! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I am excited for the next chapter.

Hey Brian, do you have any tips on doing crazy legs in one direction, instead of alternating left/right?
Why this looks so smooth is because the movement comes from the hips and not from the bounce. Watch his torso, the movement is subtle and smooth as silk. You can tell a new skater by the bounce and choppy moves.
THANK YOU!!!
Do you think, it could be my stoppers preventing me to flow? I’m also struggling with moving my left foot
They're called stoppers for exactly that reason. They inhibit or stop your flow😉
Absolutely flawless!! One of the smoothest skaters I've seen besides diamond walker.

Working in a absolute beginner series, as we speak! 😉 And thank you for your kindness!
@@BFunkphenomenon Great thank you , Iused to skate when I live in New York years ago I just decided recently to pick it backup 25 years later and I feel like a complete newbie.
Is it possible that my wheels are too loose? I feel a bit unsteady
Could very well be. When you have trouble stabilizing yourself, when standing on one leg, you might wanna try tightening them up. 😉
Oh and I sounds like this space is closing? Where are you going to teach after this?
We found a new awesome place!
don't mind me, I'm just kinda bookmarking spots in the video for easy rewind lol

I know I am doing something wrong because I am not able to stop myself from traveling backwards while attempting these moves.
You're probably leaning too much forward with unlocked hips. That usually results in rolling backwards. 😉
I have to try it. It looks easy but I guarantee it’s not. Btw, your voice doesn’t match the face. Lol 🥰
I hope that's not a bad thing, maybe it's the mic 😉
I'm watching this tutorial meanwhile realizing I've been doing all the wrong things and that's probably why my knees hurt lately. oh. xD
