    This is great advice. I started freelancing in 2008 and had some terrible experiences and was paid really poorly for my work. I didn’t know my worth: this advice is spot on, especially the part about writing your goals and sticking to them. As a writer, if you’re talented and know your worth, you should never compromise.

    You learn so much when you honor your convictions and follow your heart. That only leads you to better things.

    Hey Sarah: Another great video. I had to do that. A client was wanting to pay me a low fee for the amount of work it would take. When they told me what they wanted me to write, I had to turn them down. It just didn’t align with my values and I felt uncomfortable writing about it. They were really nice and thanked me for letting them know.

      When you're your own boss you get to decide who you work with. I love that you turned them down because they didn't align with your values. This is another reason I love being a freelancer!

    Hi Sarah,
    This is great advice.
    Could you tell us if you ever tried cold calling to get new clients?
    Is Cold e-mail prefered over cold calling in Copywriting ?

    • @SarahTurnerAgency
      @SarahTurnerAgency  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I built my entire business with cold emailing. I think it's a great way to show off your writing skills. If a potential client is impressed with your cold email, they may reach out to book a call with you. The can't see your writing over the phone, so cold calling might not be the best approach for copywriting.

    Hi Sarah. I really appreciate you published this video, goals are super important.
    But I am not sure how they should look like. Does it mean to write there a certain number of cash or clients in a specific time? Or something else? What is your experience?
    Thank you Sarah, You are such an inspiring and beautiful person. I admire your work, keep it up, follow your dreams. :)

      For my goals I wrote down : I want to earn X amount in x amount of time. How many clients do you want and what's your deadline to finish your goal?

    This is a random question, but are you an INFJ personality type? Only because I am one and everything you say resonates so much with me as if we are the same person lol.

    I’ve offered a few friends free copywriting for their website/business to build a portfolio for myself, is this bad to do? I wrote a television pilot that’s being shopped and I’m looking into copywriting also.

    • @SarahTurnerAgency
      @SarahTurnerAgency  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend always charging for your work because your copy has value. In the end, it's totally up to you. Is it worth it to you to write free copy in exchange for being able to use it in your portfolio?

    • @Elkraiden
      @Elkraiden 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sarah Turner Agency
      For me yeah I think it’s worth it because it lets me practice and I can make a portfolio quicker. I’ve already gotten three people that I’m working for right now once I hit 10 I will no longer do anything for less than $200. I’d like to add, that you’re very clear and spot on, a lot of the people that talk about copywriting are all over the place... so I appreciate your information and your time.

      Hey Antony Devros! I recommend thinking about who you want as your ideal client. Then, do some research on businesses in your niche and find potential clients to cold email.
