@@patsfan4929 Florida State is awful, any decent FBS team should comfortably beat most FCS teams, and Missouri is only the nominal #6; they're not actually the 6th best team in the country.
Boston College is weak and could have easily lost this game by 20.

I swear, every BC defender thinks they are the only person on the field. The amount of big gains Mizzou got bc two or three BC players all over ran their mark was wild. No communication, no teamwork on tons of downs.
Good test. For many of us we've seen MU falter in these types of games, they stuck it out and pulled out the W against a ranked team, great V!
I'm a Mizzou fan I didn't think they were going to walk through BC. BC is nice there not ranked for nothing with that said Mizzou is not overrated either just was was good tough game

Missouri was stout against the run but their d-line did not put a lot of pressure on Castellanos in the pass game
They were rushing 3 and containing him in the pocket. He's not a passing threat.
That's kind of the whole point when you play a guy like that. If you over pursue you pass rush lanes that gives him an alley to escape. Containment is more important on a mobile QB
That was their strategy they adjusted to. Make him throw because he's not that great at it. It worked.

@@Chris-tq1jy 99/100 times that your QB fumbles the snap you don't recover it in time to throw a 67 yard TD. BC only scored one touchdown after the first quarter flurry and it was a completely broken coverage by the safety. Look at yards gained and you'll understand what we're talking about. Mizzou had some big mistakes that would cost them against elite teams, but the defense and run game are so good even a ranked opponent had the life squeezed out of them in the end

I really liked Drink's gameplan for the BC offense this week. Rather than focusing on applying pressure to Castellanos, he prioritized sealing the edge so he could not scramble outside the tackles. Out interior D-line is talented enough he knew scrambling up the middle wouldn't be very effective. He forced Castellanos to throw the ball as much as possible and it lead to 2 int's. Castellanos made a few heroic plays, but ultimately I think we did an excellent job of containing him. Only 16 rushing yards on 13 carries a week after he ran fr 75 yards.
BC better not drop out of the top 25. They went on the road and almost beat Mizzu. They are a legit top 20 team.

Mizzou’s penalties really made this game close. 1 lead straight to the first touchdown and there were so many 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties and pass interference spot fouls.

Refs were acting like they had money on BC in the first half. Thought for sure they were going to ruin this game. BC got bailed out on two 3rd downs on scoring drives. This game isn’t as close as the score.

It's just that Mizzou is getting entirely too much hype for a team that punched above its weight class last year. This team is ranked some 10 spots higher than it has any business being ranked bc people think bowl games are representative of how good a team is (or will be the following season).

If this is how Mizzou plays Boston College, they have very little business being ranked near Georgia, Texas, Bama, and Ole Miss AND above Tennessee.
As an opponent, BC is (kind of) good, but not good enough just yet to warrant being ranked (their wins are against an FCS team and a winless FSU team).
I wonder how much of Missouri's ranking is a function of AP voters thinking bowl games say more about CFB teams than preseason games do about NFL teams.
