Gonna be honest Mario Wonder looks next level there's so much style, innovation, expression, and creativity by comparison to Sonic SuperStars. It actually makes me nostalgic towards the handheld 2D Sonic games that I've been replaying them. Still getting both but I'm much more excited for 2D Mario.

I mean, come on, 2 insanely popular game franchises come out with a 2d game made of 3d models featuring, new levels, new powerups, 4 player local co-op, a new playable character, with trailers coming out in june and games coming out in the fall of 2023? The answer was Mario before it released. The answer is Mario now that I’ve played both. They’re both fun games and I LOVE both characters and their franchises. However, as a Sonic fan boy I am always more forgiving of the eyesore flaws in a Sonic game. Nintendo has NEVER and will never put out a buggy mess when it comes to its lead mascot. Sega, however, has gladly done this time and time again and just like everything that’s come before it, we have a huge buggy mess. I have video footage of glitches, load lags, clipping, random instant deaths, random level teleportation, load screens that erase the items you’ve acquired (medals/fruits specifically) and automatic grind rails that lead to pitfalls and the rest. It’s boss battles are lengthy waiting for invincibility sections to move along so you can get to the “pray I don’t get insta killed by pit/spike/etc” (mostly anyways) patience tester and every save state throws you into the Sonic 1 mini game over and over again slowing up its would be frantic pace. Not to mention if you entered the save state with a cool shield, it’s gone when you come back out smdh. The music for the most part is forgettable sadly and it needs a patch to up its quality of life because the parts that are frustrating in Sonic Superstars are REALLY frustrating.
Mario is once again a polished and perfect game for its intended audience and succeeded at what they came to do with it.
I loved Super Stars, but those less forgiving will experience much of what I did and either rage quit or move on ti something more reliable.

I don’t mind which one is best. Both just being good is enough for me😂 I already know the Mario one will be amazing. I hope Sonic Superstars will be good too, but it’s Sega so I’ll automatically have lower expectations😂

Hey! Playtester of both games here, this is alot of personal opinion but I got to try out both games and in my opinion mario wonder is a much better multiplayer/party game whilst sonic is a much better personal experience!
Both games are amazing and I hope you guys get to enjoy them just as much as I did!

I'm buying both. I've been a fan of them since the Genesis and SNES era, and finally this is the one time of the year both 2D platformers are being sold on the same week. This is a legendary time to be alive.
Well it’s funny because, they are both coming around the same time, have the same sort of gameplay, and same sort of graphics. I got a feeling Nintendo Copied or either did the same sort of release date just to compete with Sonic Superstars.

I like superstars more, the animation, detail, shading, gameplay, design and the classic feel just make me think people are going to like it more. Idk, maybe its just me but i would rather get superstars.
