- Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi received the B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1986, 1988, and 1995, respectively. He served the Department of Electronics Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi from 1994 to 1996. Subsequently, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. In 1999, he moved to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur where he also held the positions of Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dean of Research & Development and Deputy Director. He is now the Director of IIT Roorkee. Prof. Chaturvedi was the Coordinator of the BSNL-IITK Telecom Centre of Excellence which has done a large number of projects for the Indian telecom sector. He is a recipient of the INSA Teachers award, the Distinguished Teacher award of IIT Kanpur and Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship of Nanyang Technical University, Singapore. He is a founding member of the Telecom Standards Development Society of India (TSDSI). Prof. Chaturvedi was a member of the DoT committee which recommended criteria for spectrum allocation to telecom operators, in 2008. His research interests are in communication theory and wireless communications.

Bro you have got it wrong. Everything will be clear if you actually watch the usage of this line in the video. Real meaning is that one should go for PhD when he or she is absolutely clear. When one is thinking then he or she should wait and start PhD when thought process is over and clarity has arrived.
Real meaning is that one should go for PhD when one is CLEAR & CONFIDENT.

Then why always preference are given to compitative exams for admission purpose for phd courses in respective IIT and NIT
more than what research work student done during Masters program and extra research work other than study ?

For research level course why marks take more importance than work and experience ?
Sir can we can take direct admission in PhD through GATE XE?? And if yes...in which branch?
depending on your choice of subjects in Gate-XE (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, etc) you can get admission for direct PhD in IISc in many departments (You will the get the information on the departments if you just go to the official website of IISc and navigate to admissions section and find 'cutoff') and also in IIT Kanpur mechanical department. IIT Delhi applied mechanics department also accepts Gate-XE scores for PhD admissions. Hope this helps.

Ok! Stop the course! I mean dont provide doctorates! And let the graduates teach the course! I mean if iit is only going to produce engineers then what other institutions will do! Fry pakodas! Moreover! UGC changed their norms! U need doctorates! For academics atleast u should have that! To have a good job and atleast name of iit will give it to u! Sab ke sab faltu phd keecha karte hain for their sake of CVs ke liye! U go and see the journals list! See how many of them have got first name! Moreover! There is not open recruitment policy ! Bhai bhateejawaad and jugad is the way into iits! I will tell u can pursue phd and u can go to pvt clg to for! No one is getting paid enough as phd! Salary is from 90 k to 1 lac per month starting! Arrey nit waalon ko 80 k milta hai re!!! Ab in saalon ki demand aisi hai ki kal hi launda god particle nikal de! They just expect a every fucking guy to be an einstein! There is a lot of monopoly in this fucking academic business! Its the second most corrupt industry after medical !!! So my simple advice it's a degree for those who want to pursue career in academics!!! Its simple!!! And one more tip get a prof who gives u degree after atmost 5 journals other wise law says anyone who publishes 2 journals and 1 conference paper can get his degree but these guys dont give it!!! So thats why ppl are afraid !!!
