Love watching these stolen item recovery vids. Seems like swift justice, getting the items back in a short period and it seems like there's often a good chance of arrest.
I had to radio track Rock Wallabies with a Yagi in the Flinders Ranges for 3 weeks for the National Parks & Wildlife Service back in 2000 as part of a GIS Course, great fun and the same beeping sound! We would work in teams of 3 and take bearings and triangulate and track them throughout the day. There were about 30 or so different monitoring frequencies we had to check every half hour. If a signal failed to move during the day we would have to find it and check to see if the Wallabie was either dead or injured. Unfortunately we found the remainds of 2 or 3 of them taken by foxes.
Great work, I admire this technology, having had a van stolen and not recovered and another attempted theft. Why don't you try and catch the people stealing, you could wait until the thieves come back and arrest them. Then you could get them to pay for cost occurred as a result of the theft.
Great work again .what a sorry state of affairs our police force are in ! No doubt to busy to come out coz there pursueing hate crime or facilitating corperate companys somewhere.
It is more important to catch the thief rather than just to recover the vehicle as most thieves are often repeat offenders! Simply be patience and film the thief returning to the stolen vehicle!
Manpower cost money. While it would be great to sit and catch them it's not worth the cost when you don't know how long they are going to let it sit and "cool off" before coming back. Then if they spot them before touching the bike and never come back it's a waste. Or even if you do get them on camera they may still get away and the bike is gone. Then there is the problem of even though you see them riding the bike it hard to prove they stole it. That's just a few if the reasons they don't wait for someone to come back.
These are your usual excuses given by the companies that operates these tracking devices. This does not make sense to me. Here is why. All of these vehicles are really being stolen for not reason but the manufacturer. Here is why I say that. My Jeep is a 2004. I have two keys to it. Both will start it with a catch. If I have just a key, it will start but shut wright back off. You can do it time and time again and get no where. If I have the key with the key bob, I can run it until it breaks down or runs out of gas. I know on very few anything is this way. Although mine is an 2004. You can't jump it to keep it running or anything. You must have the key bob to make it go. So in all, I can only blame the manufacturers. Not the owners. The technology has been here for over 10 years. Thanks for your videos.
Do you guys send out people to track down the stolen property every time something is reported stolen? If so then I may be interested in your service. But I imagine that for most people you will simply provide a GPS location and leave the rest up to the owner (especially if it's far away)? Am I right? I wouldn't want to be in the frustrating position of being told by a GPS blip that my bike is in some lockup across town and then having to try and convince the police to recover it for me. In my experience, the police simply say to the public "GPS tracking is not enough evidence to force entry to private premises". The police are more interested in prosecuting people for impolite comments posted online than dealing with theft.
I wonder if the thieves lived nearby or simply parked it there after they couldn't find any trace of a tracker? .A great result, as someone once said to me ,"Theft is the most vicious crime you can experience " .
SO what happens to the wanker that stole it ??? nothing ???? If that's the case i'd be in favour of the commenter below and the shipping container idea , myself ...
The police take it away to a vehicle pound, where they may or may not look for prints. And then because a private company does the recovery, you have to pay for it.
What would fingerprints prove? You could film the theif riding it bollock naked with his birth certificate stapled to his fokun back and the courts will still say theres not enough evidence to prove he stole it.
Why do you not just ring the police and wait ,, if your gear is that great why are you lifting covers and skulking about , its not a wise thing to be doing , round here you could end up getting badly hurt carrying on the way you do , its not a good advert for your product at all.
When we have an accurate GPS we ask police for attendance. We only deploy our personnel if we feel it necessary. Such cases, where there is no GPS or where the local police have a record of turning up to late, or if previous stolen vehicles in that location have moved into lockups or chop shops etc. With our personal on site the police response is significantly sped up. This is due to the fact that we have very accurate police preferred specification detection equipment on site with our operatives to help guide them. Should a protected asset move and the GPS be lost then our operatives are there to help. Automatrics are a police SBD partner which helps us with police response. Thanks for your concern, we do conduct risk assessments prior to attending stolen vehicle locations and take the necessary precautions. We have been doing this professional for over 13 years, but we understand there are always new risks to consider. We would always place our operatives personal safety above and before that of any clients stolen property.
