  • Hips shooting up in the deadlift is incredibly common, especially for newer lifters.
Oftentimes, there’s a lack of patience off the floor which can then disadvantage one to use the quads/glutes accordingly to generate power.
If you notice your hips shooting up when starting your deadlifts, try this 👇👇
    Run a 3-4 week mesocycle
On your deadlift days, perform a pause rep half-rep, then follow it with a full rep.
Perform anywhere between 8-10 sets per your abilities + needs and select a starting weight that 5/6 out of 10 challenging for you.
As the weeks progress, increase the load accordingly to work on how you sequence the body with different intensities.
Basically, challenge yourself to actually work this skill, but don’t push so heavy right way that you can’t focus on the skill work here!
How we sequence heavy and light loads will be different, thus the need for using this with different progressive loads to truly engrain these mechanics.
Big thank you to my friend Joey Miuccio for being my deadlift model here 💪

if you notice, the main thing he fixed was his starting position. he's starting much higher in the 2nd clip. from what ive seen, that's the main problem in people whose hips rise too fast. they want to squat the weight up like a weightlifter and start too low, just to loose all the tension.
