There is no servo in the schematic in the video, so I expect no ffb

Nice! At last, I will be able to craft my own pc steering wheel! All I need are common household and electronic items, found in any store, like an arduino, switches, wires and a *CANON IP2770 PRINTER ENCODER*
Pretty much any encoder will work
i don't have a canon ip2770 printer at hand so i'll use my Panasonic Minas A4 Industrial AC servo laying around for both the motor and encoder, pretty handy!

Hello you founded the solution ? Because i have the same problem ... but if i use EMC utility the encoder is forking... but for me this firmware is better than emc firmware

Hi. During attempting my own build i came to a trouble. In RFR i am not getting any axis response from encoder and Arduino itself is recognized as 4 axis 32 buttons joystick. Im using HPCB781-80006 encoder and, what is imo reason, Arduino Leonardo, which i found out probably is chinease clone. Aruduino itself works, after mapping Z-toggle to buton it works fine in RFR. Any recomendations? Should i get some Arduino drivers or change encoder to like f.e. CWZ6C or just first get OG Arduino. Great work and thanks in advance

No, abandone el proyecto y me compre un LOGITECH G29. Es broma, aunque estuve apunto de hacerlo. Ni recuerdo como lo hice funcionar, no usen ese encodificador de impresora es fragil, aunque pude realizar pruebas de manejo en Need For Speed Most Wanted y si funciona, aunque lo hice de manera muy rustica ya que tenia que acelerar con el teclado. El proyecto es posible? Claro, pero seria bueno que hagan una lista con los materiales a utilizar e investiguen bien que programa utilizaran.
@NICHOLAS KUCZEK If you are using a printer encoder my experience may help you.
At the time, do the same, as the diagram indicates, just connect the printer encondifier and the toggle switch to the arduino, it still did not connect the pedals or the gearbox. At the beginning it did not work either, I realized that this connection diagram of the printer encoder is not always correct for all encoders (I mean where it says printer encoder, and yellow, red, blue and black lines come out of it). I recommend that you test the connections, maybe the blue line, in your encoder it is the red line and so on with all the lines. I hope I have explained myself well, in any case you can consult me.

Could this be made by changing the encoder for a 10k potentiometer? It’s easier to get and less difficult to use but i don’t know if this software will allow it
Can I make the pedals only and use the format for the Arduino to become standalone or do I need the steering wheel too because I just want only the pedals since mine doesn't have a clutch so I'm building one with one. (sorry for bad English)

Hi there! I am going to be using a leonardo in a Logitech MOMO racing wheel. The wheel itself has a PCB that reads a white line on the shaft so it knows when the wheel is centered. How do I go about connecting this to the Arduino board? Do I hook it up to encoder Z pin? If not, how would the wheel calibrate itself? I'm using a motor with a built in encoder /the factory momo one/.

You can use motor with built in encoder, but if you use ratio for your motor, you must calculate PPT with ratio.

in your last video, you put capasitors to your potentiometer for the pedals. why is that? and how to wire it? do you have the wiring schematics?
Capasitor use for noise filter.
3 pin potensio
(5v) (analog pin) (gnd) = wiring
(+) (gnd join with +) (gnd) = capasitor

Coz the firmware just for leonardo.
I've gotten everything to work including FFB, but now it has stopped working consistently and keeps showing that the wheel is connected with firmware version 0.0, but it can still detect wheel movement (this is only in the software, and games don't see any wheel movement). I didn't really understand the Z toggle, that might be my problem. Is there anything i should try?
Hi, I'm trying to do this project actually, I have the pedals Al ready done and working, I have the encoder from an old printer and I'm about to do the steering wheel, but any of you knows with which games will this be compatible with? I have already tested it on Euro truck simulator and it worked perfectly, also tried on rFactor2 but it didn't worked so I don't know which games I will be able to play, if any of you knows I'll appreciate it a lot.

Why you connected encoder to digital pins? It must be on analog pins?

i have a problem... the wheel config isn't detecting any movement from the encoder... i'm using an encoder from hp... with another sort of sensor so i'm not sure where to connect....... the pedals go crazy in the wheel config but are detectable. the only thing working properly is the shifter.... please help...

hi, I have 400 ppr encoder. I am usingwheelconfig. if I turn wheel left one tour and wheel come to zero point, this zero point not a zero point. 5-10 degree slip my zeropoint. and when I turn left, wheel more force doing me than right side.

You can use like incremental rotary encoder on ebay.
i found the incremental encoder, but work same that the what you used?

If the encoder have 4 wire. It will works same with my tutorial. Wiring vcc, gnd, signal 1, signal 2.
But you must check the datasheet of encoder, vcc need 3.3v or 5v.

The encoder is just diode and phototranzistor , so it is posible to use from mouse for example or is here some circuit onencoder board?
maybe you can use mouse encoder, but for smooth steering minimal use 100PPR
I've already used mouse encoder. Works like a charm. 5V from arduino to diode with 0.5k resistor. 5V to phototransistor collector and on both emiters 10k ohm resistors to GND, and 0.5k resistors to input pins.

I think you can use MMjoy firmware for pedals and H shifter.

You can trying to connect it to the rx tx pin.
The important thing is don't reverse vcc and gnd.
