when an adult is reported missing: “they’re an adult they can leave without telling you if they want to” when a minor is reported missing: “they ran away we can’t help you”

I wonder if she was lured by another girl she met at a party who got her to meet up somewhere that night for another “party” and that’s where she was trafficked? This whole story is so heart breaking.... to know she was close to home and couldn’t get away. Her poor mother. I pray she’s found soon and can recover at home with her loved ones.
i planned on commenting this before I got to the part Danielle spoke on it. I must say, she described the common tactics perfectly. Another female y8 that another women will approach you, offering
The night before is what makes me so sad. She was excited about the job interview, preparing with her mama.. Makes me furious it wasn't taken seriously... :( I feel for her family.
All these near misses when officers head to a location, makes me can’t help but think the trafficker has connections in law enforcement. If even it’s just one corrupt officer or someone at a desk that is able to hear what’s going on.
I literally just commented the same thing oops. I totally think there's a mole in the PD. I was kind of shocked the police investigated trafficking at all, honestly, because it seems like departments are always tied up in trafficking themselves somehow and try to stay away from investigating. it's disgusting how corrupt law enforcement can be
Flannery maybe that’s why they waited at the beginning and dismissed it as a “runaway” case. To give them or the trafficker some time. If the location they were investigating at the end, turns out to Indicate there was foul play- I’d guess they thought the attention her missing was bringing, became too much of a liability
I know, I agree, me as well. I think it’s more interesting and I am more prone to listen when someone allows me to feel a bit of the victims personality and background life. It certainly makes a world of difference compared to a story only of the incident, which makes it seem more like a fiction novel or movie. That’s what I love about Danelle because she truly puts herself in the story to make us feel as if we are there in RL and thats so important to me. Not just for me because it makes it informative, but for the victim their self and the families. And that’s because nobody deserves to he remembered for what happened to them. They deserve to be remembered for who they were before going missing or being murdered. Everything they had going in their lives was important and stands out to over-shine the shadow of their cases.
@@lcjones0519 Unfortunately my wife and I were there in real life and this thing with Gabby Letito being on CNN made me wonder something. Why did Gabby Letito's disappearance get this level of attention but Leshaya's didn't. I want to be clear I am not bothered by the attention Gabby is getting, I am more disturbed by the lack of attention Leshaya is getting and the possibility that she may have been found by now if she had. I found this video on TH-cam because of that and have found a SMALL bit of comfort in what our friend has been and is going through still. I also admit this got my attention because it is a little more personal to me, so I do not claim to be a crusading saint, and don't get as aggravated about what I know are many cases out there. I just hope there are friends of someone in those other families who will speak out in an attempt to gain attention and hopefully get a happy ending for as many as possible.
Some people listen to police scanners. Someone will call 911 and then the 911 operator radios the police and usually the convos can be heard on a police scanner.
@@RAE.ofSunshine that is so true. I listen to the scanner almost every night just because I’m nosy 😂 so it’s not far fetched especially if they are into illegal activity.
I would like to say something about the runaway issue and the trafficking. When I was a teenager, age 13, I ran away from an abusive home. I remember calling the operator asking for help before I ran away. I was beaten with a belt buckle to a point where I could barely move. This was back in 1991-1992. We still had telephone booths back then. I walked to one a couple blocks from my home and pressed the 0 button for the operator. I cried to them and told her about how I was just beaten and had marks all over my body. I told her about the sexual abuse. I begged her to have law enforcement to come pick me up and put me in a home somewhere. I didn't care if it was jail, juvenile home, foster home, ect. They told me to go back home. I remember walking back to the place that was shattering my soul feeling so defeated. I knew if law enforcement were to take me home the beating would be worse. I ran away again a few months later. This time law enforcement did take me home. I was gone for awhile and ended up meeting a girl about my age. She made me believe we were good friends. I trusted her. She knew the streets and it felt safer. All I had to do was follow her lead. That's what my young mind was thinking. I will leave out details but it ended with she was a recruiter. She looked for young girls and became friends with them just to lure them into trafficking. I figured it out when she wanted to go meet a couple older guys. She kept pushing me to do things I didn't want to. I finally figured out she knew them. The law enforcement eventually caught up to me. I was walking the streets with her one day and they caught us at a taco bell restaurant. They followed us to the home we were staying at. Shortly after we got there they raided the home. I was taken to the hospital to be checked out. After that I was released to my parents. The same home I ran from initially. Here's the thing, a lot of girls and boys beg for help. It is fallen on deaf ears. They are not taken seriously. If the officers were to show up that one day when I called they would have seen all the marks and bruises. The welts bleeding. They didn't take me seriously. I am grown now. It would blow your mind the things these sex trafficking people do to lure children!! I have seen it first hand. They will go to the point of enlisting a child in middle or high school and pay them a lot of money to just have a girl or boy talk to them. Because once they talk to the child its a very good chance that the child will fall for it. They have slick tongues. They know what to say. They get a little inside information from the person that was enlisted and they go from there. Every teen has a problem. It is part of growing up. Whether it be friends, grades, poor, ect. They will use that to gather rapport with the child. Some may buy your child new clothes, electronics, cash, ect. But that's only in the beginning. You owe all that and then some. I seen a girl have to pay with her 3 year old daughter. These demons are disgusting. Vile. Watch your children!! And get involved in their lives. Be invasive. Pay attention to what they wear or new high dollar items. Ask questions!! My issue was my home life. The beatings and sexual abuse. However, some children just want attention or to feel loved. Maybe to not be the kid picked on because they are poor. Maybe to just feel a belonging or to fit in.

I'm in Colorado and like most cases her initial disappearance made the news and then faded away. Unfortunately sex trafficking is a real problem and they lure girls with various techniques.
@@chasired1510 the main issue is girls not knowing about trafficking. They need to get off social media completely! Traffickers have needle penises that they compensate by targeting younger girls.
@@chasired1510 typically if someone has a rough family life they’ll promise them a job vaguely that’ll provide them money, support, housing, and family, which can draw in a lot of people. they don’t realize the dangers and what the job is until it’s too late. as for others, it’s mainly just befriending them, hanging out, and eventually agreeing to meet somewhere and it ends up being a trap. i live in atlanta which has a huge trafficking problem, i’ve seen a lot of these tricks, it’s terrifying. then there’s always random attacks, people messing with ur car so u get stranded alone, people pretending to be cops, or even sometimes they force victims to lure in people.
24:26 they could have given her some type of burner phone. Cases like this always worry me but there is always that hope that she is still alive and she will be reunited with her mom sometime soon .
A girl who is being trafficked you really think she’s gonna get away with having a phone snuck to her. Her and the person giving it would be beat to a pulp. The naivety to this world astounds me.
You're not gonna go out for a walk at 2:30 am in the morning. I think she was going to meet someone. She probably was talking to an older guy that she didn't want her mom to know about.
When I was 16. I would often sneak out and just walk around because it was fun and made your adrenaline go. Who’s to say she wasn’t going to meet a friend. Why does it have to be a guy?
@@L33ric Same here. I still sometimes walk around at that time of night on my own, except now I obviously don’t have to sneak out of my own home. I’m a night owl who struggles with insomnia, so I walk to tire myself out and clear my head. Especially given that she had an interview the next morning and it was already late, it actually seems more likely to me that she couldn’t sleep and was walking to alleviate anxiety than that she was going to meet someone. If she took the interview seriously, why would she plan with someone to go out for an extended period when she should be making sure to get a good night of sleep? It definitely doesn’t seem to be a done deal to me that she was meeting up with anyone just because it was late.
I have a feeling that maybe there are some paid off cops that might have tipped them off, otherwise how could they have known to get out of that hotel right then? Super interesting but will be praying hard for this poor baby & her family!!!
It’s possible her “ex” was involved with the pimps or a gang and helped lure her. The fact no one knew exactly what their relationship was is so shady to me.
I appreciate you covering more black girl/woman cases because there the most under reported missing people. So thank you for bringing awareness to them.

Sabrina was very good and caring of ALL the people under her care and we were there when this all started. My wife and I have been heartbroken and frustrated that we are unable to be of much use at all. I want to thank you for doing this video and I have posted it to both my Facebook and Twitter.
I couldn’t imagine being her mother at this moment. Unfortunately, my youngest daughter, 23, is just like this young girl. We have had her back for one month, just shy of four very long years. Praying for this young girl, her family, and the LEO who are searching for her. Just wanna add, sounds to me like they are using police scanners so they know when the LE is heading their way. Edited to add: we knew who had my daughter, but we could t get any help because she was 19 when she was lured by this man. So, thankfully, she’s still under 18. Such a blessing getting all that help.
I'm not sure why the police think that runaways aren't worth looking for, especially when they're children. I hope she's found alive and well. So heartbreaking.
It's so frustrating! I hear so many cases like this where the police think a missing child is a runaway and they just shrug and go, "oh well!" They are still a MINOR, and need to be found! If there's issues at home and that's why a child ran away then that also needs to be addressed (but obviously this is not the case with Lashay)
As a parent this is heartbreaking. I can’t sleep when my son stays the night at a friends house. I absolutely can’t imagine spending every day not knowing where my child is.
could you please make a video or something on the little tips & tricks you’ve learned since you do so much research? for example i had no idea there was organizers who helps with funding for missing flyers & im sure a lot of people didn’t/don’t
NC gal here, so I know you'll know who I'm talking about, but I've always wondered if Asia Degee was taken for trafficking. I think about her every Valentine's day.
I am so glad you cover cases that are “underground”, especially since they are most of the time cases regarding BIPOC. It’s really refreshing to see someone so diligent and passionate to speak ab ANYONE, not just the popular cases (not that this makes them any less important)
We have seen in the past months that the FBI has rescued large groups of children in trafficking cases, will we ever know if some of those missing were amount them?
I live in the area and Aurora PD is known nationally as not only incompetent, racist, but also very corrupt. I get extremely worried whenever they are handling a case.
I thought the same thing especially considering how type A she was. She took time to prepare for the interview but then snuck out after 2 AM?? it def makes you wonder where she was going.
Type A personalities can go to bed at 5am and wake up for work at 6am. They typically are very disciplined. I don’t think she planned on being gone long.
Potentially, there are 1000s of MEN who have seen and paid for her and will never speak up. I am disgusted by trafficking and consequently these Johns who have had numerous encounters with her and other missing baby girls; and we are weeping for her. My heart goes out to her beautiful family.
Thank you for taking the time to research and talk about her story! Im shocked at how many children go missing everyday .. but im also shocked that I haven't heard of this story at all. Th

I feel there should be a video for families- what to do if a loved one vanishes. Tips for talking with police, how to spread info and utilize the media, where to look, etc. I can’t imagine trying to clearly think through the panic
That is such an infuriating statement I don't even know where to begin. What about brain surgeons and heart surgeons and people in charge of developing vaccines for viruses? What about social workers and people that work with cps and people that work with mentally ill patients? What about people that just don't want to have kids? I have terrible parents and as an adult myself I realize being a parent isn't for everyone.
One of the only channels and TH-camrs I’ve seen cover this case. With true crime trending and a lot of high profile cases being popular to talk about, thank you for covering this story. I hope she’s never forgotten and one day her family can receive closure😞❤️
Somebody lured that poor child. There's no way she ran away. As the mother of an intelligent teenage girl, who's also a bit naive due to my strict rules, this terrifies me. Her poor mother ripped my heart out. Is there a gofundme for these people? I want to help.
It infuriates me that police just..let children "run away". They're kids. They don't get to choose that for themselves, and the adults just say "yup looks like they wanted to leave, sorry not sorry." There needs to be a separate force entirely for missing children bc the police don't care. 😖
@Katelyn Barton they should still look. Literally a child ran away from a bad home and has never been seen again but it is heavily believed the family did it but if they didn’t we wouldn’t know cause the police don’t look
What's confusing is how so many people will call the family when she's spotted. It seems to me like they should call 911 when she's seen. I hope she's returned safe

My heart goes out to Lashaya, her mom, & family, I wish you peace.
I went to school with this girl and her brother it's extremely sad to see that she was never found .... I still think about and pray for her till this day 🙏
i always told my children that nothing good ever happens to teenagers after eleven pm. what a nightmare for her family. trafficking does seem likely. poor child.
I feel for Lashaya and her family so much, I really hope they have answers soon and that she is brought home. Stories that relate to human trafficking as a possibility are so important because I don't think we hear enough about it, and it's so important to spread awareness on these issues. Also, I've been a subscriber for probably 3 years now and I've been binging a lot of old videos recently and I really liked it when you added photos of the missing person/victim at the end of the video. Just seeing their face, their family, friends, etc helps you relate to the person in a different kind of way, plus it leaves me thinking about their story for days afterwards, just by rounding the video off in that way. Just a thought!! :)
When I was 17, I was working at retail job in Colorado, and I remember this teenage girl following me around the store and kept asking me about my life, commenting on my clothes, and kept telling me to come meet her outside to meet her mentors. I also find it very interesting that whoever lived in that house moved right after she went missing and new people bought it. That just seems soooo SUSPISH to me. It kind of goes with the trafficking theory too, if they moved her from the house to another state

@@rileydavis7817 Being aware would be better. Fear is very low vibrational. We shouldn’t feed into those energies because we will start living in a world of bad energies but yes we should be aware and informed
Another female y8
that another women will approach you, offering
That wouldn’t make sense though wouldn’t she bring her phone at least? Unless it was normal for her to not bring her phone everywhere
This girl had it together! I hate that somebody stopped that for her.
The night before is what makes me so sad. She was excited about the job interview, preparing with her mama.. Makes me furious it wasn't taken seriously... :( I feel for her family.
Maybe schools should have a class on this subject.
That’s a great idea
Great idea!
Yes
So many red flags young ppl need to be made aware of!

All these near misses when officers head to a location, makes me can’t help but think the trafficker has connections in law enforcement. If even it’s just one corrupt officer or someone at a desk that is able to hear what’s going on.
That actually makes sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a police scanner just listening and waiting.
If the location they were investigating at the end, turns out to
Indicate there was foul play- I’d guess they thought the attention her missing was bringing, became too much of a liability
I feel like a lot of traffickers have possible law enforcement ties 😓😢
Or a scanner!

So true. Parents worst nightmare.
I love how you talk about every victim as If you know them personally. Your doing so much to bring these to light
@@lcjones0519 is a way
@@lcjones0519 Unfortunately my wife and I were there in real life and this thing with Gabby Letito being on CNN made me wonder something.
Im sorry but the police have a rat. How else would they know to move her? This is way bigger than just this one girl. Im praying 🙏
100%!🐀
They could also have hacked into a police radio to listen in on dispatched calls
Maybe to just feel a belonging or to fit in.
i am so sorry, that happened to you. Thanks for the info!

@jen, the police don't make the laws, they enforce them.
Police have a protocol they have to follow; blame those who make the laws concerning the missing, not the police.
Even if it is a runway they are still in danger because they become vulnerable.
@@allan9603 labeling them as runaways and then doing nothing about it is 100% on the cops. There _is_ already laws in place and they are supposed to be looked for, the runaway label is often used as a cop-out especially when it comes to minorities

I'm in Colorado and like most cases her initial disappearance made the news and then faded away. Unfortunately sex trafficking is a real problem and they lure girls with various techniques.
Just curious, what are some ways used to lure into trafficking? Common and uncommon
That’s a REALLY good point.
I was thinking a separate phone as well.
Or WhatsApp or something like that
That’s exactly what I thought x
A girl who is being trafficked you really think she’s gonna get away with having a phone snuck to her. Her and the person giving it would be beat to a pulp. The naivety to this world astounds me.
You're not gonna go out for a walk at 2:30 am in the morning. I think she was going to meet someone. She probably was talking to an older guy that she didn't want her mom to know about.
I was going to ask, do they know why she was walking at 2:30 in the morning? Did she sneak out?
@@danny.96 No. No one anything about who she was going to meet.
It definitely doesn’t seem to be a done deal to me that she was meeting up with anyone just because it was late.

why
It’s possible her “ex” was involved with the pimps or a gang and helped lure her. The fact no one knew exactly what their relationship was is so shady to me.
The pimps are posing as boyfriends...they manipulate the girls and lure them then tell their true identities
I appreciate you covering more black girl/woman cases because there the most under reported missing people. So thank you for bringing awareness to them.
Being naive doesn’t end after you’re out of your teen years. It’s so hard to know when you’re being naive unless the mistake already happened or you were never warned. It’s so terrible people out there take advantage of the naive and trusting people. 😞
Facts! Our brains aren't fully developed until around age 25, especially the part that controls impulsive activity and decision making and stuff like that.
right 😣 like i was told all the rules of safety but looking back i was getting rides from strangers and hanging out with older people not thinking of the dangers
i live in one of the biggest cities for trafficking, tampa, and there was just a massive bust and so many people were arrested. among those involved were young women in their 20s who just looked sooo normal. be careful out there you never know who someone REALLY is.

My thing is though, who sneaks out at 2am when you have a job interview the next morning ? That just doesn’t sound right to me.
According to this episode her interview wasn't until 1pm that day....listen again...

I haven’t found or seen mention of a go fund me so far. If I ever see they create one I will absolutely share it!
It infuriates me that police just..let children "run away". They're kids. They don't get to choose that for themselves, and the adults just say "yup looks like they wanted to leave, sorry not sorry." There needs to be a separate force entirely for missing children bc the police don't care. 😖
@Katelyn Barton Authorities should still look for them. These are minors we are talking about.
@Katelyn Barton they should still look. Literally a child ran away from a bad home and has never been seen again but it is heavily believed the family did it but if they didn’t we wouldn’t know cause the police don’t look

i always told my children that nothing good ever happens to teenagers after eleven pm.
what a nightmare for her family. trafficking does seem likely. poor child.
Something my grandmother always told me when I was younger. Wise words.
This girl was lured out that time of morning to meet someone she left all her stuff to go meet someone and come right back and it went wrong
When I was 17, I was working at retail job in Colorado, and I remember this teenage girl following me around the store and kept asking me about my life, commenting on my clothes, and kept telling me to come meet her outside to meet her mentors.
