@@richardwind2859 carbon dioxide is in itself a greenhouse gas. it traps heat inside of the atmosphere by reacting with infrared waves (from the sun) and keeping the climate warm (like a greenhouse). the CO2 we breate out is nothing compared to the tons of gasses released by things like factories, transportation, fossil fuels etc.

The value of the beaches and everything else would be destroyed. You would have to be one of the biggest idiots to invest there if you believe what Obama is saying.

And, just me to you, not only are China's emissions largely in support of American consumption, they also emit far, far less per capita than us. Yes, Chinese coal is a problem that we need to solve, but it doesn't absolve us of responsibility.
@@222ableVelo They do talk about the raw data. All the time. Including in this speech. Every single academic source has more than enough data to support man made climate change.
Regarding being soft on China, the fact is we can't control what goes on inside a sovereign nation. So in speeches like this all we can do is verbally censure them. Other options are catastrophic wars and sanctions no one can afford.
Once again, keep in mind that while China should be less dependent on coal than they are, their footprint is largely a western footprint as they make the goods that used to be made in our countries until international businesses exported them overseas. We can reduce China's footprint by being responsible consumers ourselves.
As I said above, remember that our per capita footprint is still much higher than China's, so don't criticize their policy unless you're also voting and living your part.

Climate change is real and this speech was amazing. For a person who doesnt care about politics this acctually gives me a reason to care about politics now. So much negative comments coming from ignorant and stubborn people. The fight for Global Climate change could possibly change the World if we all could just work together as humans to save this place that we call Home! Regardless if we are religious or not this doesnt mean that we cant cooperate as humans and Save our planet!

I'm not sure about Russia, but China is doing a lot on their own. They have their own emission goals, they are a top producer and user of solar technology, electric cars are a very big thing there. Unlike in the US, the people there share a sense of responsibility and obligation to their society. Once a goal is identified they willingly work to accomplish it. As the world economy shifts, India and Russia will have no choice but to adapt to prevalent technologies.
@@christinedewees613 China is building 183 coal plants. I can't remember if it's per month, or per year! But either way, does that sound like China is serious about "cutting emissions". Not a chance. China is busy building up to conquer some territory in the coming decades -- maybe even the world. I hope you can see it.
Even his initial opening remark about how "great it is to travel anywhere nowadays" makes me cringe. How is that true? Maybe if I flew on private jets that didn't require an oppressive mask I'd think it'd be great too.
