I visited both India and Pakistan recently in March 24 and I found Indian cities are much crowd honks in Mumbai and Delhi and the most difference I observed was Indian cities are dirty whereas Pakistan Islamabad is very planned and clean city...
Food in India is bit unhygienic and mostly veg, very little non veg and zero beef... Whereas in Pakistan mostly non veg and you can find blend of continental and central Asian feel in culture and food..

City of Islamabad is quite similar to Chandigarh in India which is 260 Km North of New Delhi and very close to Himalayas which happens to be our first planned city and capital of 2 provinces (Chandigarh & Haryana) . For Traffic and Cleanliness you can count North East India which is very different and unique (Meghalaya , Nagaland and Mizoram) . If you come back to India than you can give South India and North East a try . 😄😄

If you travel to Pakistan again, I've got some amazing suggestions for you this time around. Since you've already explored Karachi and Lahore, I highly recommend visiting Islamabad next time. Avoid summer; you'll love the city's perfect weather, scenic mountains, and many restaurants. Islamabad may not be huge, but its charms, especially at night, and you'll find plenty of areas that feel like relaxing.
Next up, you have to visit Peshawar! The city has a similar energy to Karachi and Lahore, but the people of Peshawar will steal your heart with their hospitality. You'll feel like you're part of one big, happy family
Last but not least, take a trip to North Pakistan, and you'll be mesmerized by breathtaking landscapes, scenic beauty, mountains, and lakes that will leave you speechless. North Pakistan has something for every kind of traveler.

I would never visit Pakistan again. I went to Lahore & Peshawar. I was speaking with some locals one night when 3 guys pulled up on a motorbike & one had a hand gun. He pointed it at us, as he got off the bike. I ran for my life. Also the security & military presents, I know there is a reason for it being so heavy & everywhere, I just don't know the reason. That made me feel very uncomfortable. NOW to the people of Pakistan,.... OMG just beautiful, honest, caring, friendly, kind people. I cannot speak highly enough of them. So to the people of Pakistan, Thank you for being so wonderful.

Funny u say tht I had a same experience whilst there we was chased by bandits whilst going to a place called Murree luckily saw a police station on the way and they helped us if it hadn’t been for my husbands fast car driving we wd hv been dn for God was on our side . Secondly we were stopped by two gunmen who told us to get out of our rickshaws whilst cming hm from shopping at night they told my brother tht they heard from some place tht my brother had kidnapped my sister in laws and myself honestly God was wt us then as well as we stopped at Mal road and ran for our lives we laugh about it now but it was a really scary experience. So I am never going again . To scary for women to be out at night especially stupidly getting into rickshaws we were an open target.

As I said, The people are beautiful, kind blah blah, BUT the country has nothing for tourist. We were there for 5 days, & there was nothing to see or go out and do. It's a real pity, because of how wonderful the people are there. But never to mind, maybe one day things might change. but as of now, you're right it's just far to scary for people to visit.

Sad to know, you had to face such situation😢 I agree Pakistan is not safe like other western countries or even like UAE,Oman,etc...but we are trying to sort those things.
Again my apologies for such incidents.
Regarding visiting places... Pakistan does have a lot of tourist place.
Entire Northern Pakistan...from Chitral to Hunza is very beautiful, you can check videos of Fairy Meadows, Naltar Valley, Hunza Valley, etc. a lot of beautiful places.
Islamabad itself is a beautiful city. Pakistan has a lot of forts, old Temples, Mosques , Buddhist ruins, etc. In Southern part it has structure similar to Grand Canyon of USA. But those areas not safe (for now). Search for 'Princess of Hope'.

Hi Ken, first of all thankyou for your honest opinion on Pakistan and for visiting Pakistan. These are some suggestion form a local pakistani guy For you Ken and other travelers who want to visit pakistan, first of all the the season or the time of year when you should come, If ypu are planning your trip plan it from march to april this is the best time to visit pakistan becuse the weather is moderate not much cold and not hot, Secondly you should first arrive in Islamabad to get comfortable from the jet lag because it,s a beatuful city and the capital of islamabad surrounded by lush green valleys and mountains and to get the authentic hint of pakistan go to the islmabad twin city rawalpindi so you get familiar with rest of pakistan from lahore to karachi , then you should plan your trip to Lahore and karachi and than from there you should go north to know pakistan even better it has world most beautiful views high mountain green valleys high altitudes amazing food peacful nature and it has everything you need as a traveller campings to adventures, first to hunza then the whole Gilgit region to the pakistan china border which is the world highest paved border, than you should go to chitral and skardu. you can add one more thing with your islamabad stay that you should go from islamabad to Murree it's a 2 hour drive from islamabad it's a breathtaking and a beatiful hill station. you can even research on every thing i mentioned. Best of luck and thanks again Ken you are always welcome in Pakistan wishing to see you again in pakistan soon. Lots of Love from Pakistan

Let alone west, the hygiene standard of India is not comparable even with the other south east Asian countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore. Same is the case with Bangladeshi street food. The Indian street food is prepared in very unhygienic condition as both the food vendor and those who eat there come from low income group or most of the Indians don't care about hygiene much. This may be because of the economic disparity that people are forced to eat unhygienic street food and the corrupt local administration which allow such street food stalls. The Mumbai city is really a mess as lot of construction is going and every were due Metro and other infra project. The influx of migrants from other states of India adds to the problems of the cities as most of the migrants live in shanties, slums. Its not that whole of India or Mumbai is unclean but there are definitely some areas which need a lot of improvement.
India should make hygiene a priority through its school curriculum and large scale awareness campaign and strict law enforcement about hygiene and littering.
As an Indian I think Pakistan could be a great tourist destination for non-veg food lovers like me if they can overcome political turmoil, stabilize the economy and curb the religious fundamentalism.
