- Just a random banger by Nilufer Yanya. It could have been any other song from any other record. She has so many. In each of them she appears to start from a nondescript melody and then she does her thing. To people who don’t take time to replay her songs or to those who simply don’t dig this kind of music her work probably sounds like a mishmash of formulaic phrases and disconnected ideas. The others just hope Nilufer has a long and productive career and that in all of her future incarnations she expands her catalogue of 21st century love songs.
A mixture of prescience and deja vu informs the two instrumental pieces in Wingspan. However, it is difficult to decide whether the principal feeling they inspire is one of bliss or foreboding. A wingspan is defined as the distance across the wings of a bird or an aircraft. The smaller the wingspan, the more it takes to stay up in the air.

I think this is a great song choice. 'Wingspan' is indeed a terrific album closer. I still have a bit of trouble navigating her latest album, despite having about half a dozen amazing songs on it. It doesn't quite have the crazily varied, charismatic splash of 'Miss Universe' or the confident semi-adventurism of 'Painless'. Still, it’s a great album, though some mid-tempo grooves in the middle get a bit too repetitive for my tastes. But this song lifts things off again, even if it's at the very end. Sometimes, when she drops the beats completely, she's at her very best!
@@ivanl.8201 The last observation is spot on. Also, it is true that, compared to Painless, this record seems to be something of a slow burner, but the way it grows on you, it would be no surprise if eventually it outdid everything in her back catalogue. Anyway, you've got a great taste in music, and for that, true north loves you.
