  • Kala Chana | Black Chickpea Curry
    Ingredients
    2 tbsp oil
    1 onion, diced
    2 ginger garlic paste
    2-4 green chilli, finely chopped
    1 tbsp garam masala powder
    1 tbsp coriander powder
    1 tsp ground cumin
    ½ cup tomato paste
    ½ kg kala chana (black chickpeas), boiled
    Salt to taste
    2 cups of water
    1 tbsp chicken powder
    Fresh coriander
    Instructions
    In a large pan, heat the oil and then fry the onion for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened. Stir in the garlic, fresh ginger and green chili and continue to cook for another minute until fragrant. Next, stir in the garam masala, coriander powder, chicken powder and ground cumin. Add the tomato paste and stir to combine. Stir in the kala chana, add the water, and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer with a lid on for 25 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice and fresh coriander, and serve over rice or with naan bread.
