    Oh my your garden is amazing, helps if you don't get frost over winter. I have had wet frosty weather here in Canberra Australia, and many plants suffered in the garden. I love your large cacti and euphorbia plants. Happy gardening from the land of Oz

    So nice you are back...in I think week 11 of lockdown here in NSW Australia, with no end in sight and have missed your videos as a form of escapism. Me too. I started spraying them this week with insecticide soap. I'll spray them weekly for the next three weeks. Then, bring them inside. You can't always see them pest and don't want to bring anything in to my succulents that stay under grow lights all year (my rare succulents).
      I have a love hate for this time of year!

    The lemon tree needs iron. Just get Iron Tone and give it a couple of weeks. The color on the leaves with the green veins is definitely an iron issue.

    It’s a very spider-y time of year in So. Cal. Lots of webs. I see some changes in my succulents. They “know” the season is changing. They are getting different amounts of sun now as the position of the sun changes and daylight hours are less. Looking forward to the aeoniums perking up. Kiwis look awful. Glad the succulent dog is p-zing. Lol, very good!

    Love the water/succulent fountain its my fave! Your citrus tree has an iron deficiency. Try EDDHA chelated iron and mixing in some soil acidifier. Sometimes the soil ph is too highand plants can't take up the iron.

    Hi Laura, I just love your Walkabout Wednesday and miss it when I don't see it. Question, what is that variety of aloe in your fountain? Does it get very large? With your lemon tree, I would take it out cut some of its roots add new compost, and more fresh soil, and fertilize in the spring. That is what I have done to keep mine in a pot for many years.

    • @LauraEubanks
      @LauraEubanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When you repot the red pots on the front step, why don't you trade them back and forth on a weekly/biweekly basis? Then they will both get some good and bad light and should grow similarly! 🙂🌵

  • @djftex
    @djftex 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm dead for the new shirts, LOL! Any chance that the bad pot on the front porch is contaminated with something and needs to be washed out?

  • @pailbadcock
    @pailbadcock 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would give the lemon trim a big trim, basically back to a stump and start again. I did that with my grapefruit tree and it loved me for it. Took a couple of years to fruit again but totally worth it.

  • @salpon
    @salpon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your lemon doesn't look thirsty, just nutrient deficient. If you want to stay organic you will need to give it a handful of pelletised chook manure every 2 months during the growing season.

    • @salpon
      @salpon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually on closer inspection it might just be iron deficiency. Maybe a non-organic complete fertiliser would be a quicker fix.

    Question: I recently bought a beautiful new 15 inch Talavera square pot. Someone told me that cactus will not survive in that type of pot, only clay. Is that true?

    • @LauraEubanks

    Hi guys, With your potted lemon tree try liquid clay breaker in Australia it's sold as Supa-Cal. Liquid Calcium Thosulphate natural found in the soil but as the roots can't source it, it needs to be given as an addition. I add to tomato pots as the tomatoes are heavy uses of everything in the soil, works a charm. Try planting your succulents in the pot and use the shade from the lemon tree as a natural 🌂 unbardiddy

    I was so excited to pick a big pot for my meyers lemon tree that I successfully propagated from a cutting off my neighbor's tree when the nice lady who was shopping as well, informed me that my tree would not thrive or be successful in a pot, no matter how big and beautiful the pot was. I asked for her credentials and she gave me the long, impressive list! She said that the tree must be planted in the ground to thrive and nothing I said changed her mind even, "but Laura Eubanks has one"! Maybe she was right!?

    I watch another gardener on the west coast way up in OR. On their property they have an iron deficiency in the soil that causes chlorosis, yellowing of the leaves. They treat with chelated iron. Here is a link to her video explaining what/why they use it. Hope it helps with the lemon tree. I'd hate to see you get rid of it. th-cam.com/video/U_Yx2_fBHhM/w-d-xo.html
