Bought one new in 1985, in the white/red colours NZ got them in. My brother bought a Suzuki GSX-R750, and i remember during 6th gear roll on's i would leave him in my dust, the FZ not only had the top end to match the GSX-R but a strong midrange and torque. Would love to find a nice NZ spec one to add to the collection.
Top speed, flat on the tank, I could not reel the Gixxer in, but was not losing an inch either, it was a perfect draw at about 145 mph. Gawd I was stupid, in those days,,,,😆 But I'm still in one piece on my 2nd R1.
