- This little (well big actually) Barred owl flew into the hood of our car. We turned around and immediately picked him up and wrapped him in a jacket to keep him warm and so the owl wouldn't be frightened by lights or us. We take him an hour away to Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge. Looks like he will be ok. He is fiesty and even bit the girl at the refuge 🤷♂️ She said that was a good sign!! They will take X-rays and make sure nothing is broken. He will stay as long as it takes to rehabilitate him. Then he will be released back in the exact same area. We were so concerned for him. It was a long hour drive north of the city to the Refuge. Worth every second of time! Thank you so very much Shades of Hope Wildlife Refuge for being open and receiving our new friend on a Sunday evening!!!!
