I had put the tape in to record a great Carlton victory. Within less then 5 mins I took the tape out. Early on I saw that Carlton had no hope of winning. Carlton could've had 36 players on the ground and still would've been slaughtered.
David Parkin is someone I’ve always respected in footy. He was asked after the game ‘at what stage did you think you were in trouble?’ 10 minutes into the first quarter.
apparently, on the morning of the 1999 PF, Carlton president at the time, John Elliott, attacked Essendon as to having 'cheated' its way to the 1993 premiership.
Wasn’t he the president at the time when they got sanctions for paying players with a brown paper bag under the table? Other clubs have done it Carlton where the only one’s to be found out
@@MRHenHen Exactly Essendon people were behind the salary cap punishment to Carlton. Carlton were bitter and their men set up Essendon with the drugs saga. Still Essendon should have been more cautious and less arrogant to trust ex-blues to give the go ahead as AFL executives. This 20 year bitter war has dragged both clubs to the bottom half- Sheedy did a lot of great things for Essendon and got them to be dominant but his national priority of the game meant we lost Wanganeen and Hardwick which got Port a flag they otherwise would've missed...
well we got the bombers in 2011 and if I recall u guys have done nothing snce 2004 ast time u won a finals at least the bues have accounted 2011 and 2013 so 1999 was the one that got away and will hurt forever
Yeh that's true 99 got away we havent won a final since 04 use won 2 one u should not have been in but we go argue back and forth which is silly coz both clubs have been crap for a very long time
