As someone from the UAE let me just say, this is absolutely hilarious😂😂 for one, for May, this weather is crazy because it isnt nearly as hot as it would usually be. Also we do thumbs up, no one will say anything😂. AND you can hold hands just not too much PDA and most clothing is acceptable especially in Dubai so you’re good😂😂

As a 30 year resident of Dubai who just returned to the UK, i can tell you this; whoever told you 'thumbs up' was not allowed in the UAE was having a laugh.

@@Tia1112 the UAE is pretty much the same as the U.S or UK in terms of adoption of western culture. In fact it's far too invested in being western to the extent that it's very difficult to find the small pockets of local culture. Yes some 40 years back the thumbs up when used in a gesturing motion (up and down) was used between local youth as an equivalent to "up yours!" But it's been seldom understood in that context since at least the early 90s. I doubt any of the Emiratis even remember that let alone misinterpret it in today's context.

I am living in Dubai, and thumps up is not something wrong in here! Also, you have the freedom to wear anything acceptable to wear out in UK in the UAE no one will stop you or speak to you (wearing bikinis with sheer cover inside closed places like malls and restaurants for example is not acceptable)

If its not too late, could I suggest maybe a sun umbrella? That might be a bad idea for an extra thing for carrying around, but it might help with the heat. I don't know. Just a suggestion.

My 1st long haul international flight was on Emirates (Christchurch / Sydney / Dubai / Venice). Landing in Venice watching with the cameras underneath the plane was AMAZING.
