Discovered Rolling Quartz three months ago. Within a week I'd found out they were coming to the UK in Jan and had bought my ticket.. These ladies seriously rock ❤🤘👍🫶
THRILLED to see Rolling Quartz here. I get giddy when bands I love X reactors I love, and I'm super pumped that they are getting more and more recognition as they are incredible.
Good reaction. Thanks for doing this song as a standalone. Fell in love with this band immediately seeing this song. Go to see them live end January. Thanks for this reaction.
It is a COVER the original was by Korean Singer Maya and the arrangement was not changed much. Do your self a favor and check on the live vids out there.
This is why I suggested these ladies a long time ago!!!!! Please do more of them, you will like them!!!!! This was a M/V so the playing you see may not match what you are hearing!!!!! Check out (Fearless) or (Reminiscence)!!!!!
I requested Fearless in another livestream. They released a great live version of fearless. I will request Reminescense in another livestream. Love them. Go see them live in January.
I mentioned this band to you guys at least 6 months ago. Their brake out song was Blaze about two and a half years ago. They have done some very good covers of various artists. Their new one " Fearless" shows how they are developing. It garnered millions of views in a few weeks. Very up and coming bunch of young ladies. Azalea is a cover of another Korean singer from a few years ago. Jeungun the drummer usually bare feet. Iree the red head guitarist never stops smiling.
Enjoyed the reaction. I'm a big fan of this band. Hyunjung (blue hair) and Iree (orange hair) have since upgraded to a humbucker equipped Suhr Modern and ESP respectively, so their more recent videos sound thicker (although their most recent release, "Reminiscence", is a power ballad, so Hyunjung breaks out her Strat for that one). Though I will say the "skynyrd-esque" clean segment sounded really nice with those Strats.
if you listen it without context, I agree with the guitar sounds you criticized. but as you can see on the captions, the song (well specifically some parts, it said) actually from a poem Azalea. I read somewhere said the poem was created to portray(?) Japan's colonization in Korea, using metaphor that can be interpreted in different ways. actually Rolling Quartz wasn't the first one to take that song, rock singer named Maya did it earlier. Maya using interpretation of war and colonization, and Rolling Quartz using interpretation of broken hearted person to see the loved one with other person. so it kinda make sense in the end, how does it sound like that
Couple of comments if I may: one: I’m sure the single guitar play at the beginning reminded you to Simple Man, same happened to me when I heard Azalia the first time. Second: they are Indy, not Idol, they have no investors providing them with everything they desire in the hope of megabucks in return. I’m sure they were fully aware of the difference between a single-col Strat and a LP, or PRS or whatever with a Humbucker. Hyunjung mentioned in an interview after buying her Suhr Modern, that it was the first ‘not second-hand guitar’ she ever owned. These young ladies pushing rock (although carefully) in a country where it is not appreciated at all. In my opinion that is fantastic, but hardly rewarding in Korea; they are not going make as much money ever as a start-up, half-talented but young and pretty K-pop group. Still, rock is not dead, they are very talented, have a great stage presence and their live concerts are fire. I wish them all the very best and a fantastic, rewarding career, they deserve it. If interested, please check out their latest song Fearless recorded live. th-cam.com/video/ezczi7VMMNQ/w-d-xo.html. You would also see the drummer Yeongeun in action, in my opinion she is one of the best rock drummers out there. That is not a reaction request. Thanks for your reaction.
Lynyrd Skynyrd? Some have said that the start is reminiscent of them. I saw RQ play live in London and they were pretty damn good. In addition to their own excellent singles(MVs all on TH-cam) the did covers of White Stripes, Nervana, Nickelback, Lady Ga Ga and even Metallica! Super fun to watch live and some of the girls in the audience were even screaming when they did guitar solos and duets, etc.
Try the Rolling Quartz song Fearless, definitely my favorite from them and super groovy hard rock and catchy as hell. I have to listen to that song every day.
Azalea wasn't written for technical prowess or to be flashy. This song's lyrics were written by all 5 ladies, and it's about emotion and experiences. Azalea is a type of Korean poetry used for expressing strong emotional expression. Usually, the emotions are associated with memories.
Love your reactions... Pls give one to Laura Fabian and Johnny Halladay's "Requim pour un fou". An amazing live duet, where Laura is shocking good...!!!
Love the voice. Merely by the fact that it is not one of those nasally, squeaky, whiney asian voices like most other asian bands. She's more in the vein of Asami, & Saiki from Lovebites & Bandmaid respectively. A good depth & timbre. Love the song, but I really don't like the way they were all trying to seduce the camera. Makes it look so fake. Like models trying to get their best shot. Hopefully other videos aren't the same. But it was probably more on the director than the band. But I certainly want to see what they look like live, for sure. Time to go diving on the 'wide wide world of web'.
Jayoung has an amazing voice. She's also a professional vocal l coach, too. Regards the looking to camera. It's called Fancam and it's HUGE in Korean music. Fans want to see close ups of their favourite members, you can't have any kind of MV or performances on music shows without fancams at this juncture 👍
@@mattfeest5809 I understand that Matt. Now that you've explained it like that. But as an old retired rocker, it just doesn't gel with me all that much. Cheers man & thanks for the info.
A-YEON is different drummer, RQ’s drummer is called Yeongeun, very cute and a smile to die for, but she is actually a very fine percussionist and has been playing drums for at least 9 years.
I saw these ladies live in NYC back in May of 2023. They are completely awesome live.
I'm seeing them in the UK next month ...so stoked😁🤘
So many good videos from Rolling Quartz...Fearless, Delight, Reminiscence, Blaze, and they even made a awesome cover of Måneskins Zitti E Buoni
Skynard Simple Man guitar vibes
Thank you so much for rolling quartz reaction ❤
They should be famous by now although they're touring overseas. I really like this group
Check out Dreamcatcher's music K/pop/ rock. Endless Night (Japanese release) but one to hear is Chase Me & Good Night.
Going to see them in Paris in January... Can't wait...
