    I wonder if this is going to be the replacement for MT-LB vehicles in Finland.

      @xYarbx หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      For sure since there is definitely no more access to BMP or MT-LB parts and the ones that are in service currently are very old even tho they have been modernized.

      @@xYarbx Russia is not the only possible supplier of spare parts, but the design itself is starting to become outdated and is not exactly the best all around. It could use improvement. Finland has a large number of them, though, as it did buy off the ones Sweden removed from service years back when they downscaled their army. I guess hoarding things is just our way of going about.

      @@herptek yeah it's not but it's more than likely that every nation operating them would want to stay on Russia's good side and deny the sale out of self interest.

      @@xYarbx Its not quite that simple. Ex Soviet or Warsaw pact countries inherited their share of eastern block arms industry after the fall of the USSR. Russia is not the only user or potential supplier of Soviet style military equipment if there is a market for it. As a good example, Ukraine for instance has a quite large military industrial complex as it used to house quite much of Soviet heavy industry.
      That being said, perhaps there are many other good enough reasons to gradually transition to western standards.

      Not for a long time, since they are still in a good condition. The ones that are going to be replaced first will be the Sisu Nasu and Hägglunds Bv206, which are pretty worn and offer no protection.
      Russia (the Muromteplovoz factory in Murom) is not the only supplier for MT-LB spares, as they were made in other Warsaw Pact countries as well, and the main manufacturer was Kharkiv Tractor Plant in Ukrainian SSR (now destroyed since 2022). Licenced production outside USSR took place in Bulgaria and Poland also, and at least in Poland HSW has been servicing their MT-LB derivatives until lately. And to my knowledge, Finland has bought spare parts from Bulgaria.

    the concept and shape of the mt-lb were stolen, only the Finnish concept has rubber tracks, which is a big minus for military equipment

      Why?

      @@rossg4788 because war is a place where there is a lot of destruction, where sharp fittings can stick out in a ruined city. a lot of abrasive concrete, any close rupture of a projectile and an accidental fragment will cut this rubber just like that, and with light small arms such a caterpillar is much easier to damage if a fire occurs near the body of the car, this caterpillar will simply burn, the rubber caterpillar is good for peacetime, it does not spoil the asphalt, does not make a lot of noise, perhaps the car even it rides softer, but rubber tracks are not suitable for combat operations.

      @@user-dl3nc4jx7k Spoken like a true old timer stuck in his ways. Rubber tracks are better these days, especially because how much noise and vibration affects crew and dismount combat performance. For a artic vehicle they are perfect fit.

      15 years and so far from M113-class vehicles, to CV90 IFVs all the way to the 45 ton Redback.
      give Rheinmetall 5 to 15 years and the 71 ton tanks will be on CR, in pros vs cons the CRT are winning lower Reduced noise and vibration, Enhanced durability and fuel economy, Operational flexibility and Logistical costs.
