These look like fun paints to use for what ever you like to sketch. I think the color selection is light and straightforward for those that would enjoy having the convenience of premixed bright colors. Sometimes having those colors already ready makes for an easier painting session. They look like a joy to use. :) Your paintings were great by the way, lovely work. :)
I have the Kusakabe NEO watercolors but have not used them much. Your swatches look so bright and crisp!
Thanks! :)
I need to watch your video again so I can see which colors are similar between both sets!
Thanks for this. I saw the 36 and 90 tube sets on Amazon when searching for Japanese watercolors. PS, I do enjoy your videos and find them very informative. You are adventuresome and often are one of the few to try exotic brands.
You know, your breakdown for how this set is actually a really diverse collection was super interesting and useful! And I loved your shimmery paintings at the end-those colors worked super well for your “regular” illustrations!
I love mijello’s palettes! They’re a bit big compared to my normal small Travel sets, but the extra mixing space is really nice and I appreciate that the clear part is removable. I wouldn’t dare actually clean off paint and waste it down the drain, but it’s nice to know that if I ever wanted to, I could easily! =>.
Just found you. I just purchased this watercolor in the 24 color set. Hoping it lives to my expectations.
Your landscapes are stunning and I always love to see you work on them, but I also love your illustration work! You're so multi-faceted as an artist and it's so amazing to see.
I could listen to your voice even if you were reciting the phone book. It's soo soothing. And, your videos are great too!
I also use kusakabe! 😆 love their color selections especially for portraits 💕💕
Ooo, these colours look very pretty - fairytale or even candy colours, I call them - very delikate. Exactly such colours I like most. Very interesting with japanese watercolours! And your paintings with them, very beautiful! I love the landscape! : )
Super interesting! Loved your review! I might check these out when I have the chance!
Thanks Mandy!
They are a bit difficult to find but quite similar to the Holbein paints! (I don't remember if you've tried Holbein before?)
Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault no I haven't but might try soon!
Excellent information! Thank you!
Great video Eve! 😁 I think the paints look like they work very well for your illustrations... especially those tints. Though your landscape came out beautifully, as they always do. 😃
I like them. In the palette I was a bit skeptical when you first put them in the palette because they looked like gouache but they turned out great in your paintings. I saw they had a larger set.
Yes, they have a 90 tubes set, I think? It's very expensive but I love the color selection and if I had that kind of money to spare, I'd seriously consider it. Like I said, very versatile and useful for illustration :)
This is pretty cool. I have never heard of this company. I enjoy tints as well. I'm finding that my style of painting with watercolour is leaning towards illustrative, so I can really appreciate the more opaque nature of tinted pigments. Thanks for sharing this, Eve. Outstanding video as usual!! PLEASE keep 'em coming.... we learn A LOT from you 😃😃🎨🎨👏👏
That's a really lovely paint!!! I was considering this too but i hesitated now I kinda regret💔 I love your paintings!!
Nice review and nicely explain.
Such a nice set! I loved all the paintings you did with it. ^^ I admit, I wish it had a deeper blue, but I'm a sucker for really deep blues. :P Thanks for bringing this sweet set to my attention. :)
Thank you! :)
I agree, it was a bit difficult to mix a darker color. The ultramarine is pretty but also a bit light. Maybe that's why they have the black color in this set...
That's an interesting point! It seems like a mildly irritating way to deal with the situation, but it does seem like it might be what they had in mind. :)
I'm a sucker for mint green colors. It's never a real practical color but I find it so pretty. Luckily I've resisted just buying a tube whenever I see a color I like and actually put thought into if I'll use it. At first glance the set didn't look very versatile but when you broke it down into categories I was impressed by it. Are you liking the fusion palette? I really like mine! And for that price too!
Pretty colors
Those are pretty colors. I looked at Amazon and noticed a 12 tube set of this same brand for less than $23. The 18 tube set is less than $48. But, you indicated that the set had only 5 tubes that were single pigment paints. I don't know that I will order these paints.
Awesome video
Fantastic!! 😃😊💖😍
Loved your demo painting, as always! The paints, I don't know, they seem a bit pricey for what they are, too many mixtures, not a lot of paint, not colours I tend to use a lot (the tints).
Alive your reviews eve
Thank you! :)
Hello :D Those colors seem nice, the baby pink seems especially handy for lazy people like me. Do you know if those are available as single tubes ? I've been looking for a way to add a gansai color that looks a lot like the mint green of this set to a travel palette, but no western watercolors seem to match :(
Hi! :)
The only place I've found those as single tubes is on Rakuten (bit.ly/2n7ImNh) but the shipping is sort of painful. Maybe mixing your own from Holbein tubes (compose Green + compose Blue?) would be the easiest option. There is clearly a lack of mint green watercolor paints 😮
Is mixing paints like that okay ? :o I didn't know that could be an option, but it would be the best way (that shipping :'( ). Thanks for your answer :)
Hi Eve, do they rewet well? Can they be squeezed and dried in pans for future use?
Hi! I've put mine in a palette and they dried well, the only one that didn't stick to the pan and detached is ultramarine. Not a surprise at all, that's very common with this color. They all rewet super well too :)
@@EveBolt Thanks for the info!
Should I get Holbein or this
I was going to ask the same thing
Holbein
Kusakabe or Holbein? Which is better
Both are really good! You can go with the one that is more friendly to your budget, I think :)
Oh I think Holbein will give you a bright colour for your paintings while kusakabe give you a softer pastel-like colour
Your artwork seemed to work well with the paints! Perhaps you are just a fantastic artist though... :) :)
👏❤❤
Thanks! :)
For nearly $50 USD, I would want more single pigment colors. I'd also want all the pigments used in the set to be as expensive as possible. However, I know how unrealistic thar is. Regardless, I enjoyed your painting demo! ☺️
