For its time the Advent 201 made excellent tapes and was reasonably priced, but you had to be willing to put up with the clunkiness of the Wollensak tape transport borrowed from classroom A/V machines. You had to nearly break your thumb to actuate the pause control and the fast forward/rewind lever doesn't lock. Otherwise, it was a fine machine, especially when you used chromium dioxide (the original type II) tapes with it.
Had one similar...it was a General Electric.

I have an early production NEAL 102, which is very similar, although the NEAL has 2 VU meters.
