    Is there any Android streaming box that has S-Video or RGB output instead of composite?

    Who made the tube for this TV? I see that it says, "WF". Was the GDR buying tubes from the West, or was there a plant before the war that they took over when they divided Germany?

    • @TheRetroVaultBerlin
      @TheRetroVaultBerlin หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shodan6401 Yes, the tube is from the WF (Werk für Fernsehelektronik) in East Berlin. It was the only factory in the GDR for picture tubes and was built especially for this purpose. Normally, no tubes were imported from the West at that time, mainly from other Soviet countries. Color picture tubes, for example, were only allowed to be used from Russia. Later, many tubes were imported from Japan.

    Isn't "Communism" awesome? Putin used to work there for the KGB. And he and some others were in charge of an East German KGB prison. When the USSR collapsed, they didn't know what to do with the prisoners. The others said to just let them go. It doesn't matter anymore. Putin wanted to murder them all, but he was overruled by the others.

    I just had my Sanyo DCX-6000K revised. Receiver ($60) was mint externally but needed a repair/revision ($100). Came out stunningly well. This one sits in one of our apartments...it's a very nice piece.

    The PAL signal isn't converted to NTSC, it's a common misconception, it's a bit more complicated than that, from what I read there's still a line delay, instead of doing phase inversion on each line it repeats each phased chroma line on the next, essentially cutting the color vertical resolution by half while keeping the luma intact, since there is no averaging of phase errors the tint control is still needed for correction.

    I'm in the US and I had a black-and-white TV as late as 1993. The missing color didn't bother me. I loved shows like Lone Ranger and Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and they were filmed in black and white.

    • @shodan6401
      @shodan6401 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, but that's NOT because color TV wasn't available, or only for the elite. It's because you chose to use B&W. That's not at all the same as the failed Communist regime.

    I remember the Color TV build under PAL-AM or CCIR with 220V 50 cycles system that will work in Thailand was very expensive and cost about $1.2K back in 1968-1090 for 20" screen while colour TV console in the US cost about $800.00.

I have the same model (need to change electrolitics capacitors because the hum), but what I would really appreciate is how to identify the 6 pins of car adapter connector. The idea is to power it with 12v DC power supply but I don't know which pins should I use. Thanks in advance.... Good job mate!

    Hahaha, pause the video at 0:20 and you can clearly see on the back panel that the Fisher 170 was made in Japan. Apparently under contract by Hitachi. Good receiver, just funny to see that its claimed to be made in USA when all the evidence is right there on the screen. 😂

    One correction. Power output is rated at 18 watts/ch and not 8 w/ch listed in the description. This unit was from a time when audio gear was quite attractive and well built. Noteworthy was how conservative specs were. Power rating and other specs were modestly specified but usually well surpassed specifications when tested.

      It depends on which country your device is intended for. The European models need an antenna crossover with ICC connector 240 Ohm to 75 Ohm. Beware not to be mistaken with the adapters for radio FM/AM -> These look the same but the plug is smaller.

    Great looking example, I have the SECAM variant for Eastern block countries - KV-1310R, oddly enough it has woodgrain case instead of white. It was also luckily already modded to accept PAL, most likely in the early 90s when SECAM was being phased out. Mine still works without recap with most likely last repair done decades ago if ever.

    Wonderful TV! And what new electrolytic capacitors on the deflection board have you replaced the old ones with? What brand and year of manufacture are the new capacitors?

    • @TheRetroVaultBerlin
      @TheRetroVaultBerlin 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want to have a peace from constant failures you should replace all Elkotrolyt capacitors in the deflection board. Especially the rose-colored ones (don't know which brand they are.) These cause almost always problems. As a replacement you can use any modern electrolytic capacitor e.g. from panasonic, but you should not take extremely cheap noname brands.

    When I was stationed with the US Air Force in Bremerhaven Germany from 1979-81 my radar unit was located on the city landfill. We were allowed to take our trash out once a week without charge. One day my boss comes back with this same radio. It was in working order and all he had to do was some dust blow out and clean up inside and out. It was a wonderful radio that he took back to the states when he left. For a tabletop radio, I was so impressed by how many stations there were on it. It was big.
