My dad always told me that wild monkeys live there and he would always points into the trees. I'm born and raised in Broward county. So I've always been aware of the Monkees but I've never ever seen them even to this day I've only seen them on media and videos. But eventually one day I hopefully can get over there. I am hoping that Missy made great strides and getting the sanctuary built and I cannot wait to visit. I know the point is to not disturb the animals but you know I'm glad that somebody did something for them rather than just let them grow uncontrollably and become diseased and sickly because whenever a population becomes too great for the area it usually heals itself naturally with disease and it's very sad. I don't like the idea of sterilization either but I think it's the best solution in this particular situation. Thank you so much Missy for what you have done thank you for being there for the voiceless. Anybody that does good for animals and speaks up for them when they have no voices to speak with are absolutely One of a kind unique people and they should be treasured.

I love all wildlife, and it seems as if the population of these non native monkeys has not increased too much, but as with so many other invasive species; feral pigs, pythons, lion fish, etc, there is always a change to the native animal, fish, plants and other species of wildlife. Do you keep data or have research published to show the effect and impact of these monkeys? Would you be open to removing them, if the data and research shows a negative impact from them being here? Peace.

I am a construction worker I myself volunteer to help if anybody could please contact me I am happy to help to keep them safe but I do think there’s nothing wrong with somebody trying to save them from the street and keep them as a pet they could give them a better life than being outside where there is alot of danger.. if they close them Off and make a big fence that means they will start breeding and there population will grow more than six or 10 that have been reported ... i’m an animal lover and no animal should get left behind just because they’re not native to Florida that’s just wrong 🥺

What's wrong with taking them in as pets? Probably the best thing we can do for them.

non native exotic "pets" always get released and cause major problems to the native wildlife.
