My DELL PRECISION 7710 with quadro M5000M, 8gb vram , 32 gb RAM and 4K IGZO display is still a Beast....and it can still challenge latest workstations....
I have the M4800 and it's a beast. Still works fine but a bit slow for my workflow now that I have moved on to an XPS. Gonna move back to Precision with the 7750 again since XPS cooling just doesn't work. Hopefully this will be the last major computer purchase in the next 5 years for me.
I have a 7750 with Xeon W-10885M and Quadro RTX 4000 and it is currently at 60°C all around at idle. During a full Folding@Home load, it gets up around 85-95°C on the CPU, but never over 80°C on the GPU side. And that is under a desk without any external cooling pad. I would recommend if you are planning to use this at full load for hours at a time to invest in a stand to raise it up, or a cooling pad with fans built in, just to be on the safe side.
@@taylorgozzo935 thanks for sharing your experience. As far as I hear Lenovo P53, P series is idling at 85-95C. How do you like the keyboard and screen?
@Gabor Gubicza oh no, that Lenovo sounds like it’s in trouble. I am currently idling at 39C. :) I opted for the UHD 500nits* panels (*don’t quote me on that, just remembering off the top of my head) it is beautiful, great colors and amazing viewing angles, the battery life does suffer at higher brightness settings, but I was able to get nearly 6 hours out of the thing the other day. As for the keyboard, I don’t really have many other laptops to compare it to in terms of feel, but I like it a lot. The backlighting in great and the soft touch palmrest is perfect for my sweaty hands and never really gets too hot. The main heat is concentrated around the esc-f4 and top of the numpad. The only other big gripe I have with the keyboard is the ATROCIOUS arrow key cluster. Like who thought THAT was a good idea! Up and down are tiny and to make it worse, the little nub on the down key is very hard to feel. Also, the home and end keys are locked behind a fn-key layer, but you can change that with the esc key’s fn-lock function, as long as you don’t need any other F key
Thank you for sharing this BasianDd. Could you also advise which one do you prefer or recommend... the 7750 or the 7740? or what are the key differences? I was going to get the 7740 to help with my work as a freelancer (animator and architect)... but after seeing this I am back to square one...
HI there. I have bought a 7750 myself and can speak a little bit to your question. My recommendation is to go for the earlier version 7740 unless you are looking for the very high performance. Working on the 7750, I can tell you that cooling is absolutely amazing, I can run a 4k video game like anno1800 without any significant issues at 90fps on 144Hz 4k monitor. I also train a few neural nets on it very comfortably at a blistering speed. The airflow is quite noisy when these tasks are run however, and I have invested in a laptop cooler for this. There is no 2.5 inch sata available anymore with that smaller battery that existed before, but a total of 4 pcie express connectors for storage. So unless you have a specific need for the 7750, the 7740 is what i would recommend (with 3 years warranty from Dell or Dell Outlet and a decent graphics option - quadro 3000/4000?) for the scenarios you have outlined.
@@AbdulRahman-vq6tf Hi Abdul - did you go for the 4k screen? Which graphics card did you get? Are the fans noticeable during normal use? Also, is your primary use (CAD or gaming or?) Your reply is appreciated
matthew edwards sure. Yes on the 4K. The 500 nits is definitely enough in a sunny room however quite power hungry on battery. Quadro 5000 for me. In regards to fan, Dell has a new performance software in windows and bios. You can choose to have ultra performance. CPI Core speed gets quite high and fans also go on max power if required. There is a balanced and quiet profile. Quiet profile tries to keep fans off by lowering clock speeds on cpu. So there a few strategies to keep the fans quieter if you want. Once again, this new vapour chamber + cooling improvement is quite efficient. It takes roughly 3 minutes to get the laptop from hot to touch to cool to touch when I was stress testing it. My main use is 1) many many test vm’s 2) neural nets and data crunching 3) photography work 4) gaming
@@ornobrahman Hi and thanks for your info. I am curious about the 4k matte screen - is it beautiful? I am tempted to go for a 5750 for it's trim size, however, it has a glossy 4k screen which turns me off. In addition, it does not perform to the level of the 7750 and probably gets hot. Also, does your 7750 seem relatively slim and sleek? It is only 6.8 pounds which it not that bad. Look forward to your opinions!
Thanks for the great discussion on the difference between 7740 and 7750 and really loving the input from matthew and Abdul (treeofwisdom). Thank you, hopefully might notice I don't get to spend much time on these computers in a practical sense to push these high end workstations to them proper use. I am interested in the cooling of this 7750 and 7550 because of Abdul feedback I will be doing extra testing on the thermals for the in-depth video regarding about it. Please continue the discussion as it gives me idea's for tests to perform for the video to help you all.
I can’t believe dell didn’t make this a 16:10 screen. Surely that will happen in the next revision. That’s the only thing stopping me from buying this.
Cheers Armin, I'll soon play with it been mostly on the 7550 and so far loving it. The 7750 I've been playing with it's performance and can say give it the thumbs up so far.
i recently purchased a DELL PRECISION 7750. Tbh processor temp goes 100degree under full load. Similar cases with other users. I have got my refund back. Note their is no way tweak in bios. Even after bios update. No doubt it has an excellent look and premium feeling but no point if run red hot on professional tasks...Highly dissapointed..
Hi, thanks for th unboxing. Looks real nice. When you test the performance I am interested if the 180W adapter (you received with the 7550) will work with the 7750 and not drain the battery (the 180W adapter is much better size wise). Please keep that in mind and check it for me - thanks.
Hi KaushaL, they can game but I wouldn't suggest them because the Quadro card in them are more designed and gear and have certifications to professional level applications which is why they cost so much more. My suggestion is to get a computer more gear towards gaming if you looking for gaming as they will have geforce graphics chips in them which is better priced and faster that are designed for gaming. Precisions are designed for stability, security and long work loads rather than chasing high frame rates.
@@BsianTech that's a nice easy explanation to understand. Thanks mate. I would request to please also share your knowledge on some good gaming laptops. Thanks mate. Y'r awesome.

It's too money to spend on gaming and you won't use it even the 50% , I use it on data science and CFD , the ROI is reached in two or three months , if you want to waste money on gaming, buy s alienware
I am loving my Precision 7750, the thermals do get a little high under full Folding@Home load, but it is manageable. I went for the 32GB ECC, Xeon W-10885M, and Quadro RTX 4000. It is a true BEAST. And about the power bricks, the one for the docking station is actually larger, at least for the WD19DC that I purchased with my laptop.
Taylor - thanks for your information. I am ready to upgrade and wish I could go with something more portable but I am skeptical. The 7750 slight extra weight when traveling it seems to be the right choice for it's specs. Does the overall size and weight comfortable for general travel use or does it seem bulky? I appreciate any feedback you can give as it seems like the 7750 is the best general choice available .
