      Wooow! Did you really water fast for six days? Just water? I've been fasting just one day a week for three weeks and it's not very hard, but don't know if I could do more days for fear of passing out or something especially when I'm at work. How did you manage?

      I did two water fastings. The first one was only 4 days, no supervision and no support from my loved ones. It was hard, I got fearful, was in pain and broke it the worse way possible with a "normal size meal" a fish sandwich (due to insistence of a family member that loves me but is ignorant about the subject). It should be broken little by little with watery fruits, no meat whatsoever. The second fasting, was for 6 days. I didn't exactly planned it. My body slowly started demanding very little food until I didn't feel the need to eat anymore. In order to overcome the fear of "needing food" I always carried an apple, nuts or something with me. Never ate it but gave me peace of mind. This time, my loved one supported me as I explained why I wanted to do it and how it works. I could have gone for more days but I was going to travel within two weeks. Very skinny people should not fast very long, I could because even though I'm slim, I've quite a high fat percentage (30%). the most important rule about fasting or eating is LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.     i have fasted 42, 48 , 72 hours, 4 days , 7 days and do IF daily gastric issues are improving , heart rate and blood sugar and oxygen levels are normal now.. ( not before )

    fasting is not just a battle in the body. it's a mental battle as well. The devil in your mind becomes active not to get you to eat but to get you to break your word to your soul.

    I attempted to water fast for only one day for spiritual and detox reasons only but honestly all I can think about and started craving during that time was fast food which is surprisingly ironic due to the fact that I hardly consume such things. And its not like I wasn't preparing myself for fasting cuz i have been working on consuming more fruits and veggies during the past 2 mths. I consume meat very very minimum sometimes i dont even eat meat for a week and prior to my single fasting day I strictly made it fruits and veggies in which I was fine until of course the moment of the truth came, it was scary I had French fries creeping through my mind and chips with avocado dipping sauce/Popeye's chicken etc.. Until I hate to say this but I fell into temptation and gave in after 18 hrs counting the night of my sleep which technically minus 8 hrs or so its 10 hrs of the awake period of fasting. After that I pigged out and felt ashamedly fulfilled. It was mixed emotions and all I kept telling myself to make me feel better and more accepting was everyone's favorite excuse line: I'm only human... I want to try fasting again and I'm planning to hopefully do it soon maybe this week Thursday or next week Thurs. And reason for me to choose Thursday is cuz it's my day off and I want to keep as much minimum stress as possible. Anyways that was my experience, please give me advice on how to resist such crazy unhealthy random food thoughts and also why did this happen to me? I'm just curious since honestly I'm the healthiest eating person in my family and meat/sweets is not a big deal to me. Tks for taking the time to read this.

    vegetable juice fasting is the best thing, since we have juicer and shopping option we can go that way :) body will be happy with vitamins and minerals ;)

    Namaskar Acharya-shree , could you pls advise on which days to fast , its mostly said to fast on Full & No moon days and Ekadasi day , also guide how to fast on water . Is it advisable to do Shatkarma's , the yogic internal cleansing , particularly dhauti (stomach cleansing ) and neti (nasal cleasnisng) in addition with intense sadhna during the day to get maximum physical benefit and holistic experience .

    I've fasted for a week before twice..im aiming for two weeks. my reaaon is for a physical cleanse though. i do believe in the spiritual aspect but, i have two children i stay home with and i dont thonk i would be able to meditate much lol.

    can anyone help me or tell me why when I fast i feel engergyless and giddy like I can't even walk stable. even when I skip a meal but just drink water and drink milk i feel energyless. then when i eat something like rice, i get my energy and feel better to do my work. i eat alot from time to time. i feel hungry very fast just 1 hour after meal. but im not overweight. can anyone tell me what I can do about this. im doing this for health reason only

    Hello, I sometimes fast for around 30 hours (one day and two nights) and it feels great, just like you said. I want to make it my habit, but I have a question- if I want to fast ones every week, should I change days or can it always be on the same day (I'm wondering if the body gets habituated with it and after some time starts to magazine the food for that occasion).
    Also my friend is a Muslim and he's certain Ramadan is fasting. If he took just one meal every 24 hours, would it then be fasting and should he then drink water during the days or it doesn't matter that much? Thank you for the video.

    No one can define what is fasting.. 1 meal in 24 hours.. Or 1 meal in 72.. Or 3 meals in 24.. Everyone knows there body and fasting is beneficial whether it is for 12 hours like Ramadan or 72 or 96 or longer like many water fasters do.

    The main purpose of muslims to fast is to break all the bad habits..All the habits which are evil, the habits which are prohibited towards God. Losing weight is never a motive of fasting in Islam that is kind of a by- product.. Or one may even gain weight if he eats more when he breaks the fast.
    And the timings are not fixed by the way, one has to start keeping the fast before the morning prayer before sunrise and he should break it after the sunset.. So the time varies from region to region. Depending upon the sunrise and sunset on a particular region.While fasting if you do something which is prohibited in Islam then your fast is broken and which is punnishable at the day of judgement..To develop good habits is also another motive of fasting. If you miss your prayers while fasting then the fast is not acceptible.. One has to do charity in the month of Ramadan.. At least 5 percent of the total income of a person in a year is to be given for charity during Ramadan month. The charity is only compulsory for people who earn and has value or property equivalent to at least 52.5 tola chandi (silver) which is equal to 35000 INR (indian rupees) nowadays here in India. The person who refuses to do charity is punnishable at the day of judgement.
