I often find in my garden that two hedgehogs will circle eachother for hours, making the snorting noises (think they're "courting") and another one will come along and all hell breaks loose.

I could hear something in my garden last night. I went back out and sat there and when I heard it again I put a torch on and there was a hedgehog. So happy to have these gorgeous little creatures in my garden :)

Lol we have a classic family tale of the time my dad was sitting up late watching TV on a hot night with the patio doors wide open...
..he heard all this bizarre grunting and thought there was a maniac s*x prowler watching him in the bushes
      ...turns out? HEDGEHOGS 🤣

Wanted to avoid a rat problem,my hedgehog rescue said wet food,ie chicken based cat food was better as rats prefer the dried stuff,so I put some out in the feeding station every night with water, and remove during the day, mind you most times they have eaten up,lol, and no sightings of rats lovely video, thanx for posting.

First hog looks like he's about to play Shumann's Piano Concerto in A minor (raptuous applause from the audience) and then oh hello.. here we go. Always someone that has to ruin it for everyone else.

So neat to see wild hedgehogs! I've only ever seen them as pets. Hello from the USA!--("across the pond" I believe the phrase is?)

I have a lot of hogs in my garden, I feed chicken dried cat food with crushed nuts and dried insects, plus water. I have had a bad winter though., one hibernated in my hogitat, because it was mild it came out and topped up with food. A few weeks ago I went out to feed the birds and found him under the bird feeder in day time, not good I picked him up and he had an eye missing and an awful wound on his face, I took him straight to the vet but they had to put him to sleep. I cleaned the hogitat out but didn't expect to get another one as we were well into winter. We always know if there's one in there as the dog who is obsessed with them sits in front of the hogitat, I was getting bird food out again and I noticed the dog had taken the hog out of the door, she hadn't hurt it but as soon as I saw it my heart sank it was tiny far too small to survive winter, I bought it in, in case it was, still alive, but a night under the radiator the smell was bad so I knew he was dead too. So this year I'm going to take the hogitat lid of and look how big they are. I never saw the small one go in so didn't realise, I did what you are told and didn't disturb them. I always leave a little food and water out in case they wake up. Also last year Iooked out of the window and saw a juvenile fox eating the hog food, the next night I put dog food out, and he came back, we left the outside light on and ended up with four young foxes every night. Two of them still come, but I think the others found a different stamping ground. I have photos of the hog and fox eating next to each other, we bought a wildlife camera when the foxes came. Wildlife you can't beat it.

The way those two big chonker hedgehogs suddenly fade into shot is distrubing. Its like a bad 80s' Sci-Fi movie but they are real actual real life chonker hogs from outer space 👽🦔

So is the biggest one trying to impose dominance over the others and not let them eat?
Interesting, from what I have read, they are usually not very territorial and rather avoid fighting to conserve energy 🙂

The reason I publish these videos is that so many assumptions regarding hedgehogs are contradicted in the footage I have. Foxes don't bother the hogs, cats ignore hogs. Hogs can run at apace. They are out most nights (some, in reduced numbers) even in winter. Food and water should be put out every night. I don't have any specialist knowledge, it's just what I have witnessed or filmed. - Thank you. -

rat problem can be solved by feeding station 1 door cover (rats are claustrophobic) ,and put some poison up on high lever table were hedgehogs cant reach

But then if it scuttles off a fox or cat might then eat it. Hedgehogs can be known to nibble too on small recently dead rodents
