    It should not come as a surprise, that Nick Drake recognized the lyrical side of Bob Dylan. It is one of his best songs and Drake's version creates an atmosphere close to Dylan's version.Thank you, for posting this. Imagine a Nick Drake cover album of Dylan songs. I'd be first on line.

      So, @@sharksport01 how do you know Bob is a Lone Justice fan? I tell you, sometimes I think I've been living under a rock, or maybe my life is overflowing, and there's just not time to know all the great music out there. So, I really had not heard of Lone Justice and to find out they broke up years ago makes me sad. Maria McKee has a fantastic range. There's a video with her talking about the break-up.

    Elvis sings all the verses, doesn't rush and is clear with the words. He almost bleeds into the mike. Compare.

    I'm a big Nick Drake fan, but I don't care for many posthumous releases that are so far below his standards. This Dylan cover strikes me as awkward and a bit pretentious, not what I associate with Drake's best. There's a reason he didn't release certain things within his lifetime--songs that didn't meet a certain standard didn't merit being made public.

    • @RichardOmier
      @RichardOmier ปีที่แล้ว +11

      well ok. But it becomes music history. It's about process. The fact that he listened to Dylan and recorded Dylan songs is actually important objectively.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RichardOmier It's fine for us to know Drake listened to and maybe was influenced by Dylan. We don't need to hear recordings Nick did not authorize for release, recordings that undermine his legacy to some extent along with the other lesser work and juvenilia that has been released without Nick's approval and I think against his wishes.

    • @RichardOmier
      @RichardOmier ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@surfwriter8461 A pretty bold claim that this undermines his legacy. Wow man. Feel like millions might disagree with you. His legacy is in tact. This is just cool stuff to humanize Nick.

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RichardOmier You keep shifting the subject. This isn't the worst of the stuff issued by the record company or his family after his death, but it's something I know he wouldn't want released. Do you really not understand that artists choose what they think is worthy to present to the public. If it's unworthy, it shouldn't be out there. It would "humanize" him if we heard him burp, too, but that doesn't merit being released. Very little of what was released after his death, including four songs he recorded as if he thought them worth hearing, has come anywhere close to belonging in his catalog. To release inferior stuff diminishes his legacy whether you think so or not.
