Thanks Louise. I have gathered together my candle making stuff. Just waiting on my wick Center thingy from BNicole & I’ll be doing some too so your video was great timing for me. ❤
These are spectacular I’ve been making candles over 20 years now and these are wonderful the frosting could be heat … low or high I use food colouring and essential oils for scent but I specialise in Gel candles mainly you really can’t get great effects 😊
For the math, just multiply by .9 for 90%. (move the decimal point, if there is one) one space to the right ex: 42.0g 420 x .9 = 384.3 36.4g 364 x .9 = 327.6
I've only done it a few times, but I coated the inside of the mold with mica powder before pouring the candle and it comes out lovely and doesn't wear off. I even did one with the heat sensitive mica and it changed color when melting- looked very cool. Obviously you can't get as detailed coloring that way, but I'm also not as talented as Louise so if I tried to paint them after they would have been a real nightmare. 😁
An easier way to convert water to wax is to multiply the water weight by 0.86. Frosting in one of the negatives of plant based waxes, usually related to pouring temp or the room temperature when the candle is cooling. Best to check the wax makers guides for the best temperatures. In terms of decorating, you can add a small amount of water to a mica powder and paint with that.
I LOVE these molds!!! I wish I still made candles for sale because I would definitely get these molds. I use about 30% Beeswax to Soy. Also, your pour temperature was too high for the soy wax and beeswax has to cool very slowly so it doesn't crack. All in all, your candles came out beautiful!! I love your videos!
@@LouiseSingletonCreations For my recipe I poured at 140 and 150 F. Soy wax alone melts at between 130 - 150 F and you want to pour about 125 - 130 depending on the manufacturers instructions. Do some experimenting to see what works best for you in your area. Always follow the manufacturers instructions. Try not to let your wax get over 200 F. when melting (for soy wax, don't go over 175 F). Also, if you are using any fragrance or essential oils to scent, watch for the flash point temp. when adding to the wax. Some have low flash points.
I forgot to add that Soy wax is prone to frosting. A little heat usually takes care of it, but covering the way you did works too. I have also used candle paint to decorate my candles. Acrylic paint is just fine. I've never had a problem with it.
The white marks, (I think), maybe the soy wax separating, the added fats . I’m not sure. You can colour your wax with normal micas. You can also add essential oils if desired . I m collecting things to make candles slowly. Your candles are fantastic. Thank you Louise x❤
Thank you so much, that’s very interesting. I read that colouring with micas can clog the wick so I avoided that but I might have to experiment on that one.
I was surprised the moulds with the face masks came out well. I was thinking it might be difficult to take them out because of the delicate lines around the mouth. The lines were very thin and could have broken but it turned out beautifully. So happy for your efforts 😊
These are just fantastic! The only candles that I've ever made were gel candles. I do have soy chips, but I haven't had the nerve to try to use them yet, so thanks for the encouraging video.
If you pour your wax while it's still hot, you'll get less discoloration. Also, if you use a parafin blend, it will be stronger. Soy wax leaves a greasy, soot on surfaces while burning. Love those molds.
That wick centering kit looks so nice? I love Boowan Nicole molds too, I’ve bought quite a few using your code. These are super cute and since you published this now, we have ample time to order to make a Halloween candles 😀
Thank you so much Laura and so sorry for the late reply. Yes indeed Boowan Nicole’s moulds are great, not only for their quality but for their unique designs.
I use soy wax. You need the temperature at 182°- 190° Fahrenheit to add dyes and pour it. Let it cool overnight. I have never gotten white marks. Maybe the wax wasn't hot enough.
How do you seal a candle? I am new to making candles and I can only make beeswax as I am allergic soy. I didn't know you could paint the candles afterwards, that is so cool! Thank you!
Thank you. There are varnishes and sealant available for candles but I’ve never tried them so I don’t know how to use them yet. Thank you for your kind words ❤️❤️
Love them all! ❤Super cool moulds. 😊
Your decorations really make them.🤩

They are absolutely fab, love them 🥰
Thank you ❤️
These are so much fun! Want to try them. Oh, and easier way to calculate the wax is to multiply the volume by .9 (364 x 0.9 = 327.6). Saves a step.
Thank you, great tip 👍👍

Omg! Why didn’t I think of that! You are a star. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Those are awesome molds!! I would love to see the taper candles in resin!!!
These are such a lot of fun, eh? I'm really enjoying the extra videos you are producing. Great content.

Thank you ❤️
Lovely molds! Love the Frank candle and can see why the skull candle was claimed!
Yesss my husband has a skill for claiming things! ❤️
You can melt down leftover candles. It also works.
Thank you, great tip!
I think they are fantastic Lou that skull candle was FABULOUS ‼️
Thank you Coyo-Tea, I know I love that skull candle too ❤️
These are very cool molds❤

Brilliant advice thank you. What pouring temperature would you recommend please?

Thank you so much. I think it’s because the moulds are so soft and pliable, they come off easily without causing damage 👍

Thank you ever so much. I haven’t tried gel candles yet. It’s on my to do list.
I love them all ❤
Thank you I’m glad you like them ❤️
Viewing from the caribbean your candles came out beautiful 🕯🕯
Thank you for your continued support, it’s much appreciated ❤️
Im saving this video; I really want to make a candle; and you always explain so well ❤ these are gorgeous 😍 thank you 🫶🏻

That’s really interesting. I was avoiding parrafin wax but I’m open to learning new things so that helps a lot thank you ❤️
Love your videos. What about trying to paint the candles with melted wax? Maybe from a crayon or something?
Thank you. Yes I’ve seen that done although it looks a little tricky ❤️
These ar wonderful Louise 😊 ❤Gail
Thank you so much ❤️

You could just put in the mold amount times .90 which is 90% and you get the same answer, just a shorter calculation
Can any of these be used with resin?
I would like to know the answer also x
Yes they can be used with resin but I’m not sure the result would be as shiny as what you would get from moulds specifically designed for resin.
the frosting is unfortunately normal for soy wax. and it's best to pour it at around 170 degrees F.
Can you use Mod Podge to seal them?
I think I read that mod podge spray works but I haven’t tried it.
