We were married in 2018 in the Philippines and lived there for 2 years. I came back before the start of the pandemic and there is a big backlog for Documentary qualified applications at the NVC. USCIS took 8 months to approve our IR1 and NVC took 4 months to get Documentary qualified and we are waiting currently 2 months for a interview however from what I understand the current wait time for a interview at the NVC for an IR1 is 9 months to 1 year due to the pandemic backlog.

@@Yangchentenzin116 You have to be able to prove that you have met each other in person at least once. If you do not have a pic together you have to be able to prove that in some other way which I'm not sure how.

Congratulations:) You can go to US embassy in Japan website and make your appointment. Once you book your interview, you can print out your booking confirmation info from anywhere you have access to a printer. There should be a bottom that says "PRINT" Also, you have to bring a DS-160 confirmation paper to your interview.

For example if your Fiance does not speak English at the Embassy and your interview is in Italy, there will be an Italian translator in the U.S. Embassy onsite

Just tell them the truth! If you talk to each other you can say so and to add some details if you can say how you communicate that's good. If you can't talk to each other maybe give them a reason why like busy with work or time difference or something.

Interviews are always in English. Your English speaking ability does not affect the result of the interview but you will be asked questions in English and you need to answer in English as well/

My now wife had her interview in tokyo. She only speaks Spanish. They provided an interpreter. Btw way they hardly asked her anything. Maybe it's because we are older 63/56.

Anecdotal evidence but one of my neighbors was 15 years older than the beneficiary and his packet was approved. This was in the early 2000s and the K-1 process was exponentially faster back then.

Not for k1 visa! K1 visa interview is only for non-American fiance. However, once your fiance is in the U.S. and get married. You two have to go to the interview together for his/ her greencard!

@@merlin7663 Hi:) I have never heard that people could choose the language. It might depend, I think it would be best to call your local U.S. embassy and confirm! They would not ask you anything too complicated, so I think it is good to practice before you go:)
My now wife had her interview in tokyo. She only speaks Spanish. They provided an interpreter. Btw way they hardly asked her anything. Maybe it's because we are older 63/56.

Anecdotal evidence but one of my neighbors was 15 years older than the beneficiary and his packet was approved. This was in the early 2000s and the K-1 process was exponentially faster back then.

No, I have never heard of class, and also I didn't have to take any class.

Not for k1 visa! K1 visa interview is only for non-American fiance. However, once your fiance is in the U.S. and get married. You two have to go to the interview together for his/ her greencard!
