I'm glad to see that ur red colord soil there in Africa is fertile!,, Coz our soil with red color here in Philippines has a poor fertility condition that bananas cannot survive,,only few grass
Root rot are caused by nematodes or the choice of planting area...if it is a swampy or water logged area, be rest assured, you will face issues. To avoid nematodes, the sucker is treated before planting. Thanks for your comments.
Plant spacing is dependent on various factors which include, soil type, type of cropping the farmer intends to carry out (mono cropping, inter-cropping...etc), it also depends on the climate of the farm area
@@sabiagriktv5793 excellent application of science by you guys something that farmers in africa don't do. i have enjoying the lecture in this video. i just felt like stealing that guy from nigeria. please use the pif technique of propagation developed in cameroon. you can get 60 suckers just from one plant. that way you can make your farm of just a selected specie of the plantain rather than planting various species.
@Augustine Ufeanei Thanks so much for your kind comments. The suckers were sourced from a research institute however, be sure to expect a video from us showing the PIF method of propagation soon
