This what I have been looking for. I am lucky to Google on this plantain suckers plantation today. I have subscribed right away. I have 6plots of land including a farm house with borehole that I intend starting planting on. Quick question: Please what kind of fertilizer can I use within the first month? Can I use cow shits? What type of chemical can I spray on the suckers to prevent any disease? Can I use DD force? Your quick response will be highly appreciated.
Great to know you have 6 plots. You can use cow dungs/shit/litter, but you have to ensure they're fully decomposed, or cured before introducing the cow dungs into you field. You can use the shit to spread across your field and plough it into the ground that would be very good for your plantain. Then, you can also, add a bit of inorganic fertilizer to boost the growth within the first month or within the first two months. But ensure the plantain is already rooting or established before application of any nutrient. You' should use insecticide and fungicide and treat your suckers with it before planting You can use dd force, just ensure it's in the right rate.
I like this guy. Very intelligent and detailed. I want to go into farming as soon as possible as well. I will use all the help i can get. Thank you for the video.
Hello my brother. Please I want to know if I can go ahead to plant my plantain suckers now as I just finished laying water pipes with hoses across the 6plots of land. This is with the help of plumbers. There's no problems of water as I wet the whole land almost every day for the past two weeks. Or do I still need to wait till next raining season. Thanks
If you already have all that put in place, then of course you can start right away. Another thing try to get enough compost or manure in place for the planting.
Due to it growth pattern, it would be a bit difficult to for the container, especially, if small to give the plantain proper support, however, if the container is large enough, then, it may be able to give the plant a good support for growth
Yes, plantain can possibly grow anywhere. Provided all the conditions are right. Conditions such as well drained soil, sunlight, water and basics nutrients. Plantain will definitely do well.

@@QueenMondaysWorld for two plots, I dont know the purpose of your field if it's just garden or for commercial? If it's for commercial, you can use 2m by 2m for the two plots spacing. You would need about 333 suckers.
Yes, you can. But the challenge with this spacing is that, you would ensure you constantly remove growing suckers from the parent plant. Only one sucker should be allowed to grow along the parent plant, as to reduce over population and congestion. Again, you must ensure that you apply enough manure. You have to double the quantity of application, as the rate of nutrients uptake would be more now. If the management practices are top notch, then, you would really make great profit at the end of the day.
Well, for plantains, pumpkin is perennial, it won't be compatible as plantains would form canopy over the pumpkins and eventually reduce their growth and productivity. Crops you can intercrop are crops that would mature within three months, before the plantains would start to form canopy
Hello @Mac D. I just confirmed, the pumpkin you referring to is different from what we refer to pumpkin at this part. You can intercrop the pumpkin with plantains, it takes about 120 days to maturity. You may still use 6 ft by 6ft or use 7ft by 6.5 ft, since after 120 days you'll be harvesting the pumpkin. But, like I would say, this is the spacing for a commercial field establishment, and has to be adequately manured at every point in time with proper maintenance practices and they will come out great at the end of the day.

After the first harvest, how many months will it take to harvest again
You harvest like every other month. You can’t harvest every thing at once, as not every thing will produce once
