Totally agree with you that Ireland having a panel discuss the song right after is not a good thing. Let the music speak for itself and then let the viewer engage with the conversation or seek out opinions. The way they do it will absolutely cloud people's judgment and take attention out of the artist
The algorithm is on fire - first time I've worked with someone during the day and come home to find their video in my feed that same night. 😁 (Also, legit great video, the all the details make me want more!)
Totally off-topic from the song reactions, but.. as someone from the UK, the fact that you as a Canadian pronounce "route" as root not as rowt, is quite thrilling to discover :) With regards to Ireland - one of the other things RTE are totally missing is the international audience. It feels really blinkered as though they assume only Irish people will ever watch these performances, this national final
@@stu_makes_vids and JJ lives in BC and I’ve never heard anyone with that thick or “put on” of an accent lol 😂 maybe in East coast Canada. He’s the only one I’ve heard pronounce about as “a boot” 😂
@@stu_makes_vids Ah, for a moment I thought ah-ROOND might just be a Scottish inflection - but not at all. Man, he has a whole mixed up accent lol. I just thought, jeez they will do this so much better than the US....
LSC is hardly the strongest NF out there, but for a country that hasn't participated for 30 years it's a pretty decent batch. I think maybe some peoples expectations were too high. Like, realistically would Luxembourg win on their first time back? As for Ireland, it's a mess. Tbh, I think they should follow the BBC's lead: go internal and completely overhaul the selection process. Better to focus their limited resources on one act, than spread them over several. Personally, Ailsha's and Bambie Thug's songs really aren't for me, but if they do go to Eurovision, I'd applaud them for trying somehing different.
Agreed and agreed. Again we still need to see what Luxembourg actually does before we can set any kind of precedent for what to expect. They are practicing a brand new country to Eurovision in a modern context
-out of the two, Luxembourg is overall a bit stronger; the line-up overall is a bit more enjoyable. even though not as strong and "unique" as people hoped, at least it is not a bad start for a returning country that was in hiatus for 30 years. yes, the artists are mostly Luxembourg-related, but the songs are mostly "foreign"; I think that is what most people complained about. -for Ireland, it seems like the rest of the line-up are there just to fill up the quota/spot. there is a vast difference in "quality" or "diversity" between the so-called faves and the rest.
I mean Celine Dion won for Switzerland so maybe hiring a Canadian singer isn’t so bad lol 😂 Loved the video ❤ currently the one I’m most excited for is Raiven from Slovenia. However, there is usually a trap contestants fall into where they try to replicate winners or others who did well and it usually backfires. Like last year (2023) there were so many slow mo Chanel dance breaks 😂 and only Noa did well enough to break into the top 3. So any songs that are similar to Tattoo or Cha Cha Cha may not perform so well 🤷🏼 but then again you never know.
Great analysis. You made so many nuances about LSC that I have to listen their entries again before commenting. At the first time, none of then really stands out for me. Now I understand they are playing safe and I can judge then for it. , although I prefer when countries use their national languages. About Ireland's Eurosong, I immediately liked Go Tobann and Doomsday blue. The others are fine. But Eurosong looks so amateur when compared with other national selections. I'm sad for Irish euro fans, but it is hard to compete with other countries that make so much effort to select between established artists and newcomers of their music scene.
Yes that can't be avoided. It is nonetheless a sensitive issue and still a developing story. For that reason I am only going to put my thoughts into video when I am ready. Believe me this has been on my mind ever since it all started.
@@stu_makes_vids thank you. I myself live in Iceland and I think RÚV has made some dumb decisions. I was quite disappointed with the Luxembourg NF, there were many songs that sounded so generic but what was even worse was people saying that it's an amazing NF.
Luxembourg has to be the biggest disappointment of the season. Ever since the EBU announced their return, everything has gone down hill in a very suspicious way to end in a low cost, no personality, bland contest sold to the same Swedish composers/producers and some of the most disturbed Eurovision names. And Ireland, it’s continuously being Ireland. It feels that they got stuck in the 90s and they don’t really care. Hence, even the BBC has learned to update itself.
there are 2 songs in french (quite good ones) , what else would you want ???? I'd say they did a very good job and the selection is definitely better than I would have expected
@@EurovisionESC wow 2 songs in French. I am shocked, shocked I tell you!! What else do I want, you ask? Oh I don't know maybe the possibility of stop having the same Eurovision group of friends in every single project.
well, if you ask me, the songs are unique enough so Idc who wrote them at the end of the day. Songs are good - good job Luxemburg!!! Welcome back :D@@rubenmfs.93
Luxembourg was a bit disappointing overall after everything we had heard re: number of submitted entries and auditions. I quite like Paumée sur terre and that's what I would send, but I don't think they have a Top 10 finisher. On the other hand, Doomsday Blues to me sounds like a potential ESC winner and I also really really like Go Tobann, but everything you were saying about the Irish national final/broadcaster is in fact the real issue in Ireland. They had good songs last year, too, and the live show was just a total collapse of everything good and decent.
Paumée sur terre is one that I would prefer over some of the others. An understated song for sure, but could work for Eurovision with the right storytelling
I agree about how Irish songs are released, I think it's a bigger issue than people think as it really creates a bad first impression. In regards to the LLS I wouldnt worry this year about the set up as apparently the performances are being done on a different stage in RTE's studio's and not on the LLS. The big issue for my with the Irish selection is its so obviously being fixed for Erica Cody to win that its not even funny...when its comes to ESC RTE are just as bad as TVP when it comes to their selection...
Ireland has stuck in past, they still would prefer songs that would be 30 years ago popular but not today. RTE doesn't want another victory and has no interest to turn things around but public has become very negative about Eurovision so RTE knows has to do something. With Bambi has chance to get to final but first semifinal is very strong and it will be bloodbath. If Ireland was put in second semifinal it would fly to final.😂
Musically, I find Judas as a rap song quite bland, weak, and uninspired. I'd love to see a rap song go to and do well at Eurovision, but it has to be something more hard-hitting than Judas. I hope Ireland chooses Ailsha or Bambie Thug. Realistically, Go Tobann will have a better chance at winning Eurosong, since Doomsday Blue is awesome but just little bit too dark for the general public.
It's a lyrically driven song, one that's quite earnest. Not a banger that's for sure. I doubt it would get picked anyway but I thought it deserved a bit more respect than last in every poll 😅
I agree with you 100%. In Ireland, our selection process for the songs from start to finish is deeply flawed. The team in RTE has passion for it, but have no money, no time, no capacity, so it gets less attention from our national broadcaster than it deserves. There's also a stark disconnect between the demographics of Eurovision fans in Ireland versus the demographics of the people who watch the show that picks the contender.
@@IndianTee don’t confuse the corruption and money-hungry greed of RTE’s leaders with the deprivation at the lower levels of the organisation. I promise you, the team behind Eurovision in Ireland get shockingly little funding.
