No, actually, there are a lot of sustained notes in this song. I understand that the body suit is heavy, but Steve Blanchard is a BUFF dude and he played the role for 11 years...no excuse.
That lift at the beginning was rather...stupid, but apart from that, it was a brilliant performance. I especially love the way he said "I'm sorry..." It was so heartfelt. Though he seems to enjoy messing with the tempo a bit xD
this is the best "Beast" i have ever seen ! I saw the last show on Broadway , the way he does half singing half speaking totally fits the situation, gives the right feeling
wow, it doesn't matter that he doesn't sing all of it, the emotion he puts into it and the chills you get from watching his pain make it alright. Still love terrance mann the best in this role however.
hes really good! my first beast was some Sean guy during the UK Tour last year, not only was he AMAZING...he was also stunning (without the beat make up...obviously!)
I really don't get why they never changed the surprise of the Beast catching Belle. It was a good idea, but every time it just makes people cackle like hyenas and totally ruins the mood.
@Fiyero06 so did Terrance Mann but he sang it so much better, he actually sang the song, Steve talked in tune, except for the with me, tht was really good
I prefer a softer ending if a production chooses to incorporate Evermore (transposed 3 semitones higher, starts in B Major). I would also have Belle sing in counterpart with him: “What’s his choice? He won’t last for a day in forever. My heart’s far, far away, home and free!”
Barely sings it and is all out of time. If I had paid to see this "performance" I would have been sorely disappointed. This is one of the emotional points of the whole show and this guy doesn't hit it until the very last note.
kind of a dissapointment not going to lie. if he had actually been singing in the beginning, that might've helped. I can tell he has a good voice, but this just isn't a stellar performance.
You know the irony is, after beauty and the beast, this guy later played the part of the creature in the musical Frankenstein
love this guy, he gave it so much heart every time
love this guy, he gave it so much heart every time
my band teacher used to play trumpet in the pit for this show in new york =]
beautiful - so much emotion put into it. so many people don't sing this song right...
Spine chilling way to end Act 1! If I seen this live, if it were still running today, I would cry as soon as the curtain fell for intermission!
Hey, I saw this guy when I went to see it!!! He's very dramatic and funny and that's bacicaly what the beast is so Bravo!!
this is great. And the speak singing at the beginning is gorgous because its a recitative section.

He picks her up like a child XD
If you have the battle between the beast and Gatson, I BEG you to put it up!!!

I saw him with Ashley Brown as Belle

@Fiyero06 this isnt the best example but here

Wonderful! Please give my performance of this a look!
Do you have anymore videos for beauty and the beast
Lucky! Were you a cast member or crew member?
This guy is fantastic, but I love Terrence Mann. He will always be the best beast ever!

Who’s the Belle?
The only part I loved was the last " Me... " He held it beautifully. Everything else was just dialogue in tune with the score.
Barely sings it and is all out of time. If I had paid to see this "performance" I would have been sorely disappointed. This is one of the emotional points of the whole show and this guy doesn't hit it until the very last note.

Horrendous. Could he have been any more disinterested?
Over emoting, geeze dude..
STOP TALKING AND SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop hollering.
He is doing the best he can.
